Gumby, I'd recommend a simple emory board for the edges.   Its great for taking that sharp point off and rounding them for comfortable wield.  Works on finger nails, too, but this is more practical IMHO.  ;-)

 Gum I am so impressed, that is beautiful work. My dark initiate looks so weak next to this piece of awesomeness, I have the tools I'm looking to build hilts. I do need a few more tools like a threader and a drill press but hopefully that's it.
