Ok...so, I was looking for some alternatives to the traditional blade plug and stumbled into my local hardware store and found the following:

White plastic hole plugs (1 inch).

They snap firmly into the socket of my sabers (they come in a 2 pack) and do the job of covering the opening.

PRO:
1. Covers and protects like a blade plug should
2. Has some slight modifying potential like painting and such.
3. Cheap

CON:
1. You will have to figure out how to get it back off the darn saber (I drilled some holes into mine and pull it out with a paperclip)
2. the top overlaps the emitter opening (good for protection but maybe not the most aesthetic look)

This is not a bad solution, perhaps, when modding your saber to protect the emitter opening and situations when you just want to cap off the opening to protect the LED and such.

Let me know if you want to see pics.

Thought I'd share this as it does seem to have some potential.

As you wish...

..of course I started playing around with this already...

I drilled some holes in the first (not finished) and left unpainted so far

The other one has a single hole but I spray painted it to see how it would look.

Here's a pic of it from the bottom:

This should work with a solid emitter, but if you have windows that light still shines thru, plus, it won't hold the LED module in place, so if yours can fall out, it will. but, at $1.30 each they're fairly cheap.

Well, some of the other saber builders use them as pommels. They work ok, but repeated use wears off those nubs and they become looser. (like in changing batteries).
