I am currently making my first lightsaber! I am using a 12v battery,  but I was wondering what I would have to do to be able to graft in a sound/motion circuit that is in either a 1.5v or 3v and not have it fry on me!

Don't use a 12v battery...

I am unaware of any sound boards that run on those voltages either though.

The US ones run on 6-7.4v, and "others" run at 3.4v, and there are certainly smaller batteries in those voltages.

It might be tough to get straight answers here for your particular project, Dmann, since we can't mention competitors by name.

I don't know of any that runs on that high of a voltage. Most boards run 3.7V with the exception of the Obsidian Premium boards and another company that run 7.4 volts

I know im using a really high voltage but is there any way I can add a resistor to help?

That would be a big resistor, and you'd lose so much power to heat.

I've never tried anything like that, so I'm not sure, but that'd be like a 6ohm resistor.  How big are they?

Here's a resistor calculator though.  You'll need the voltage draw of your board or LEDs for "drop" number, and the mA (current).

Hey man it's cool you are building your first lightsaber! Get a decent protected 18650 battery and you will be good. I have done the cheapo sound cards. Once you have a good 18650you just need to get a small resistors for the led. If you are doing one of the cheapo builds that I did you are also going to need to get the resistor but the YouTube tutorials explain all that stuff.
