Hi, all!
I have two Emerald sabers and two Obsidian v4 sabers that I'm thinking of upgrading to use 18650 batteries instead of 14500s.  I plan on wiring them up with an internal power jack installed in a chassis.  This way, pop off the pommel, and either:
A, the power jack is mounted along the long axis, and thus, just pop in the charger; or,
B, the jack is mounted radially, so slide the chassis out a bit to expose the jack, and voila.

My questions are:
1.  Are there any tutorials out there on doing this?  I'm happy to read up, but I haven't been able to find any.
2.  Would I need to use a kill key with either the Emerald or the Obsidian v4 board?

Both of those boards require 7.4v to operate correctly, so unfortunately you can't just use a single 18650 since they're 3.7v. You'd have to use 2 in series, so you have the right voltage.

Here's a thread with all the technical specs on the boards: http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=40651.0

Ah, and two 18650 in series is a ton of length, interesting.  That might work for an Overlord, but I'm dubious an Initiate v3 has enough space.

Thank you for the links -- that's super helpful!!

Yeah exactly. Possibly a Raven? And not a problem.

Even a V4 or V5 probably won't have enough room for a dual 18650 setup. That's a very long setup. To fit it with a chassis, you'll need a long body that's a consistent 1.25 inches all the way down. That's probably why US uses the dual 14500s, they fit nicely in shorter hilts. Smiley

I think the only sabers that may fit a dual 18650 is maybe a Raven and an Arbiter but I'm not exactly sure about it.
