Okay a question.

When you are walking around with your lightsaber at a con or event and don't want to carry the saber around all the time what do you do with the blade? A pocket in the robe? Go back to your car? Just deal with it and hope you aren't hitting people and/or damaging your blade while walking around?

Inquiring minds want to know...

I usually hold it in a reverse grip behind my arm if I’m walking through crowds.  My buddy’s saber slides into the side of his belt pretty easily.  Walking around with it like a cane is also an option.

If your blade is a specific length in proportion to your body, you can wear the hilt blade in on a covertech. That's what Saber Guild does when the blades are "off." Length will vary depending on your height and on how long your legs are

That's what I've done with the Wrath at cons

The Storm, a staff, might be a bit more difficult

True. Would you break those down into two? Or are you going to keep it as a staff?

You could get a back holster, like Rham Kota in TFU. Then just leave the blade in.

I do a cheap version of what Threadjack is mentioning.  I take a belt and strap it sideways across one of my shoulders and chest.  I connect my covertech clip to it on my back and hang both hilt and blade together from it on my back.  It takes two hands and little practice to release but is useful for cons where you want to have two hands free to browse merchandise, yet still be in costume.  This is the method I use when the hilt and blade together are longer than my leg otherwise though if the blade is shorter I just hang from the hilt and blade together from my belt again using my covertech clip from US.  I almost never carry the hilt by itself without the blade.
