So unlucky me tipped my saber bag a few minutes ago and the covertech wheel of my Diamond Savior must have fallen at just the wrong angle, because I managed to bend it. The saber is otherwise undamaged, so I think it might be better to get a covertech and install myself rather than sending it in, since it's my regular saber and I don't want to have to wait for it to come back.
I just wanted to verify that there aren't any unexpected pitfalls in doing a covertech installation (especially since the whole is already there). It seems simple, but I'm afraid that means there's some sort of catch I'm unaware of. Is there anything particularly tricky about the installation, or is it straightforward unscrew the old, screw in the new?

Naw, it's easy. All you need is a 9/64 hex wrench. You can unscrew the old and screw on a new one in about a minute or so. I sometimes swap silver and black ones between hilts.

Sweet! I have a set with all sizes, so I should be fine with the key size. Just placed the order for my wheel. Glad to know it's actually as easy as it seemed XD

Yeah, it's really simple. I have one of those sets with the different sizes too, and I just picked up a metric set recently too, so that I'm prepared for just about everything.

Yes, and Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Yup! I need to be taking pics with it soon for one of my Saber Guild Submissions, and I don't want to end up not having it when it's time for the shoot

Im planning on installing a covertech wheel on my saber. I just want to verify that he screw is SAE or Metric? I just want to be sure to get the right Tap and Die set. 9/64" seems to be an odd SAE size. I might be adding them to my kids sabers as well. I would rather ask and get it right than guess and mess it up. Any help will be appreciated.

All Ultrasabers hardware is SAE. For instance, the wrench for the blade retention screw is the 5/64 wrench. For absolute confirmation, the safest bet is to email marlena@ultrasabers.com and ask her.
