I want to try making a custom saber using an empty hilt using a cree xml rgbw led and obsidian v3/v4 sound board. I cant seem to find an led driver. I also want to try using 18650 batteries (2 of them if possible. Can anyone help me identify the items I would need?
Thanks

If you are indeed looking to use 2x18650, that would be 7.4v, so a buckpuck would work very nicely.

For 3.7v (one 18650), you'd need to go the resistor route.  3.7v wouldn't power an Obsidian V3/V4 board though...

Only a certain number of hilts will accommodate two 18650s (that's a lot of real estate).

Looking forward to it though. Smiley

Google searching that LED shows a current allowance of 1A per die, so that 1000mA puck is perfect.

Research.

Can you change colors easily with the buckpuck?

Nope.

A buckpuck will only regulate current flow, not select channels.

You'd need a colour changing board (like Emerald or Diamond) for that.

An Obsidian board is just sound.
