a while back I bought a DVA saber, and it is (IMO) a very much bluish color, but my friend was messing around with it and he dropped a red color disc into it and it gave off a color that looked very much like a picture of Mara that I saw a while back. It was almost a perfect magenta color

Okay, so I've read that it's purple, magenta, and even somewhere that it was a "bluish-purple." So which is it? Do you think it matters if I get VA or DVA? Maybe Bane's Heart might be more accurate? It's going to be on a stunt Aeon of some sort, for now.
I have DVA in my EH, and I think it looks good. It definitely has more blue in the mix, which would meet the bluish-purple look you're going for. |

  Looking at these, being the "official" pics of her, I don't see a bluish purple, I see a straight purple. I'm thinking standard VA is probably my best bet. |

Haven't been saber shopping in a while  , but the last I knew, Forum colors were +$10. Bi-LED colors (AB, VA, SRD) are +$5 for the added wiring and LED cluster. Same with Tri-CREE. Forum colors require resistance tweaks to deliver end results, which means more work, and adds +$5 on top of Bi-LEDs. I've heard that US has recently added Forum color color menu instead of requiring special order, so I don't know how they are playing now. |
