I'm trying to decide on a saber. I love the Emiter for the Manticore and as a saber it is kind of clean. But the Spectre caught my eye. I was going for the solid black (no etching) and silver look. But there is a picture with long black grooves on the back. That looks odd to me. Do you think I could get it without the grooves on the back? Does anyone have another picture?

The grooves are sort of like a sleeve around the saber.  The hilts based on the one used by Kanan Jarrus.  It's a nice one, one of my favorites.  I'm next to certain it's heavier and larger than a Manticore if that matters.

Thanks, I saw one video where the sleeve was pretty loose.  Since I like to duel I'm a little concerned; is this an issue?

I wouldn't say so, but I personally don't like dueling with any saber that has a removable emitter or greeblies.  I prefer a one piece and pommel hilt for combat like a Sentinel or Aeon.

Do you think the Spectre could hold up dueling?

The Spectre is an amazing saber. I do light dueling with it and honestly, it gets a little loose from time to time. No big deal really. It feels great in the hands. And it is awesome to look at. I say absolutely go for it. The Bellicose and Guardian are excellent as well.  If that doesn't work for you, have you considered a Scorpion? You can get it with or without the claw. It's a very solid saber. But, it is a BEAST. Only slightly heavier than the Spectre,  in my opinion, and very sith-like feel.

As a Spectre owner I can wholeheartedly endorse it - I do not have huge hands or anything but it just feels great and it very easy to duel with and spin despite being one of the "larger" premium sabers available. You won't regret buying it, I can guarantee that!

I fully endorse the Spetre. Got myself the one with the ecthing, and my son has the black. I have to admit, I prefer the black.

It is a solid saber though. Very sturdy, and looks good.

For dueling, I would prefer my Consular over any but the Spectre has a small tsuba that can add a little protection during combat.

LOL, because now it comes down to personal flavor. Does one get the engraving or the more traditional look. I know who inspired the saber but where does the engraving come from? Plus I wonder why Ultrasabers are always so thick around? It looks cool enough to learn flourishes with it but not it I can hold it well.
