I've been playing around with this Dark Graflex since I first received it back at the end of March. When I did the unboxing video, I noticed a scratch on the activation collar and tried to fill in the defect, with SEM primer. It didn't work so well, because the colors didn't match. At that time, I had been searching for brass fittings (8-32 x 1/4" cup point screws, clutch or half nut for the charge port, 8-32 x 1/2" cap screws for the activation box, etc)... I was not able to find the parts I wanted. So I turned to paint.
In turning to paint, I knew there was a high chance I could serious damage the hilt, but at this point, I was more than willing to take the shot. So, I went and purchased some liquid gold leaf pens to play with. That worked out pretty well, so I ordered 22 ml of liquid leaf 6110 classic gold, plus many fine point applicators, no brushes as I wanted to take my time with the paint.
In the pictures below, the sealant hasn't been applied yet, so the surface looks rough.
