I looked on tsl’s web page for a list of certified saber companies and ultra savers wasn’t there is there a reason or is it because TSL likes the other guys also the other guys prices for combat sabers are over the top for what I’m going into so there’s that

Iirc, TSL requires the blades to have mirrored tips, not shine through. US blades are shine through. You can get mirrored tips from TCSS though, and change them out.
As to the rest... No comment. Not a topic to get into here, against forum rules.

Iirc, TSL requires the blades to have mirrored tips, not shine through. US blades are shine through. You can get mirrored tips from TCSS though, and change them out.
As to the rest... No comment. Not a topic to get into here, against forum rules.
Gonna fight you on this. All of my blades MG & HG, round and pointed, UE and std alike ALL have mirrored tips. |

Not saying that that don't illuminate a bit, but all my blade types have mirrored tips. |

US, as are most blade makers, are currently using mirrored tips with a hole in the middle to allow a bit of light to shine through for a more "realistic" appearance. It may be possible they don't have much experience with US blades so don't certify them for that reason? Also you can put any 1" diameter blade in your US and it will work exactly the same as a US blade. So you can order a US saber and one of the "approved blades" from elsewhere.  |

Or get a blade from both if you're that worried about it, also the Standard Issue makes for a GREAT dueling saber while also looking cool too =] Same with either Sentinel as well though like if you don't want anything getting in the way

Taken from the US FAQ:
Do you install mirrors in the tips of your sabers to help with the lighting?
Mirrors stop the light from passing through the blade tip and do not give the effect of a real blade. We use a semi-transparent film which reflects most of the light, but allows some to pass through. This, along with our specialized film removes the bulbing effect, elminates [sic] most of the base flair and provides a consistent light through the entire distance of the blade itself.
So, either US doesn't use mirrors or they need to update this statement.

It's still a mirror, just not an opaque one. Think about mirrored sunglasses, or two way mirrored glass. With our mirrored film, most of the light is reflected, but enough passes through to light up the tip. An opaque mirror simply looks inferior to what we use. A dueling league probably doesn't care so much about the way the tip looks and just wants to prevent any chance of shining light into an opponent's eyes, so for them, an opaque mirror makes sense.

Good explanation. That would also answer the question: US blade are NOT tournament legal without tip replacement.
