I have a saber with basic sound. It hasn't been used a lot, but now when I turn it on it powers back down instantly, and says Obsidian.

Why all of sudden is this happening?

First thing...........check the batteries. Could be one was close to dead and it finally went out.

^This. Sounds like your saber is at low power. Change the batteries, and you should be fine.

Most problems are solved with batteries. I'm 99.9% sure that is the case here.

Same.   My sabers with basic sound act just like this when the batteries go flat.
