I got my new Aeon last week, and modded it up a bit to suit my tastes. It has been over a decade since I got my first Ultrasaber…. the old aluminum tube with emitter. I was stoked to get one with the new Obsidian V4 sound, and blue-violet LED. I loved the gold and silver look the Aeon- very Windu, but in hand it was an awful lot of shiny! So I got down to putting my own personal touches to it.
First thing I did was flip the claws, to put the point bits up, it just looks so cool this way! Next I painted some of the hilt to give it a worn and textured gun/metal appearance, with some great silver and gold highlights.
Next I added some O-rings to the hilt, to improve the grip, and make it a little more 3-dimensional in appearance.
A little shaving to the Covertec disc, to accommodate the lowest ring...
And lastly, I wanted the end to be more then just a big hole, so I took a ring of blade material I had just got from cutting down a plug to fit this emitter, a small ring of "Pet Screen" I had left over, and carefully forced them down the pommel till they were almost flush. The end result was better then I could have hoped for, with almost no effort!
An the final emitter glow show.
Now I need to do a little study on how to very lightly weather it some... nothing severe, just enough to shed that pristine feel. Thanks for taking the time to see my new beauty!
Any good tips or links to weathering techniques, welcome!
