Hello everyone!!!
My name is Tiago do Canto and I'm one of the instructors in Aquila - Saber Combat.
Just a little introduction:
We have about 2 years of existence and our main objective is to instruct participants in techniques based on kendo, fencing, historical/medieval fencing, wushu, HEMA, among others, however, using a LED Saber.
With that we emulate the techniques used in Star Wars movies, transforming the fighting style of this popular saga into a functional form of combat. We use full armor and heavy grade blades.
Our combat system is based on the other rules we found online from other clubs.
- Continuous combat (no stop on strike), we just stop on faults
- Combat time 3 minutes or 5 minutes(finals)
To score a point you need:
- Show the intention to strike and score
- Good posture and strike technique
- Sell the point to the referee, you basically can't let the opponent strike you (gain distance from your opponent or bump into the opponent)
In this way we expect the participants to focus more on quality strikes since the jury's approval is central to the counting.
