There are a ton of examples of people making hilts their own in many different ways, but does anyone here do anythings to the blades?

Custom lengths, different diffusion techniques but messing with the film or outer surface of the blade, designs on the blades, ect?

I've heard of people taking sandpaper to the outside of mid-grade bladed to get a second layer of diffusion.  Form photos, it's looks kinda neat.
I wouldn't do that with an Ultra-edge blade though, since that already has 2 diffusions (the film and the translucent blade)

I think the best way to do this is to take the sandpaper, wrap it around one end of the blade and then "corkscrew" the sandpaper in a film gripe all the way down the blade.  This should create even horizontal scratches all the way down for the light to bounce around in.
It gives a similar affects as UE, but doesn't "wash out" certain colors.

As soon as mine arrive, I'll be doing this myself

I've also seen pictures of people using hot glue on the outside of the blade to create an 'unstable' effect.
It's for display only as the hot glue surely isn't tough enough for dueling Grin

Probably not, but it would look cool to have chunks of it flying off during a duel Grin

If you don't go down the whole length of the blade, but just the 6-10 inches near the emitter, you could probably still do some light sparring. Hot glue is flexible and kinda rubbery, so if it's hot enough to bond to the blade, it should stay.

The hot glue is something that I would have never thought of

Steel Wool works well also and theres less chance of making gouges in your blade

Instead of using clear film in my first blade, i tried some flim that had a "holographic" effect. It looked OK in person but in pictures the Green blade looked Teal. I ended up using plain clear film and rubbed the outside of the blade with steel wool

Now the neat thing about the holo-film is that with a white LED it caused a kind of purple-pink pearly look. I was thinking if i ever get around to making a Cilghal hilt i would use that as the diffuser.

All the credits to Master Therion Jinn, I just remembered his customisation.
He did a really nice job on the hilt and the blade itself:

While I will take full credit for the hilt's design and execution, I can't take credit for the blade's look.
The blade is a sheath that I picked up off of eBay, as is the 'exhaust' bit.
With the unstable effect being a sheath, though, I do have the ability to remove it for proper dueling, if needed

And I thank you
