I've only followed two true rules to build reputation and credibility.
1) make the fans happy.
from fellow cosplayers, kids and celebs. they are happy when you interact with them and bring them into the universe.
2) make the promoter happy.
saber duel or no saber duel. pictures or no pictures. deliver what they want and they will always ask you to come back.
My friends and community have said plenty on my behalf so I never had to say anything about myself. If anything, I inspire others and lead by example.
