We dyed my beard and hair in an ombre of purple to blue, it's an easy way to suggest alien/other is to color one's hair a color not normally seen in nature; you actually see this in anime, as the characters who are off from the norm will have strange-colored hair for Japan. The term in film is semiotics. My costume is a linen tabard/obi set in varying greys from Twin Roses, with a cloak I normally wear in Sith garb from Mystik Merchants, and a saber belt I made myself (which I want to re-do, as I made the belt too narrow and the interior belt moves too much). My wife's is stuff from our costume closet, and the linen Jedi robe she made for me, and a set of deerskin leather gloves from Ravenswood Leather. We had a bit of a tough time with the photographer after the con, as he went incognito for a tie - we were actually worried we got scammed, but finally they got us our photos. |
