For the most, they do hang side by side. The ones owned by Mrs. Maestro Jones hang side by side as she has more continuous wall space. About half of mine do while the others are operated bu either windows, guitars on the wall or, posters.
I like to think of each saber as a mini work of art. The displays bring enhance that. The character based sabers (Guardian, Consular, Dorinian, etc) are pretty easy to come up with ideas. The less specific were more difficult as we have to "feel" what they are about. I went through three tries before I got the Frankensaber display like I wanted.
The Wookie inspired Liberator is wrapped in woodgrain patterned vinyl fro a local vinyl/art supply store. The gold and green accents are also just cut strips of vinyl.
Again beautiful work and yes, I can imagine it is difficult to choos between wall space for a guitar or a saber.
