Padmé deserved better, you can't change my mind

Hello! I am hoping to etch a few things on my Aeon V3. I have never etched before but I had a question to decide on which method I chose. If I use salt water/spot etching, will I still have to take out the guts of my saber?

Depends on how much you're planning to etch, and how.

If you're gonna submerge the hilt, then yes, remove the electronics.
If you're doing a small spot on the hilt and hit it with a little cotton-stick, then just tape the rest and be careful.

Use common sence, electronics and water don't mix. Let alone a vinegar and salt mixture.

But thinking of it, I don't know how the electronics will react when you put a 9v battery on the hilt.....

If you're using any type of electrolysis etching, theoretically the electronics SHOULD be removed.

Thanks, that'll save some electronic in the future  Grin

I wasn't sure, because of the "It's only a 9v battery."

Just in case you are not willing to cut and reattach wires, simply sliding the electronics out of the hilt should be sufficient.
Electricity will be conducted through aluminum into anything making direct contact and will continue into other conductive materials.
Do not forget, though, most electronic connection points are surrounded by non-conductive materials to ensure the flow.
In general, removal is the best policy.
