Forgive me if already answered, but I didn't find a search feature in the forum, and there's 118 pages of topics in technical...

My batteries last about a week in my saber, even if turned off.  Is it normal to discharge when not in use?  It's kind of a pain to keep changing them every time.  I suppose I could just leave them out and only install when using, but that's contrary to the recommendations in the instructions.  (My saber does not have. charging port.  I'll be sure the next one does...)

Thanks for your replies!

OK, I did find search, but there's 40 pages of battery posts too.  Anyone else seeing the batteries die in a turned off saber?

That is quite normal. US recommends keeping the batteries on the charger when not in use.

When i keep my sabers in my basement, where there's no heat and gets rather cold, my rechargeable single ion battery sabers die within 24 hours even while not using. when they're stored too cold or too hot can drain the batteries. If found this to happen a lot more often with my rechargeable batteries. My sabers with basic lite sound set up using 4 AAAs don't nearly die as often surprisingly.

Fandom mash-ups are fun.

firehand10k is 100% correct.  Li-Ion and NiMH batteries have self-discharge as a normal "feature," and the boards in UltraSabers have a parasitic drain even when the saber is turned off, which is WHY they recommend that the batteries be in the charger (or that the saber be plugged in if there is a charging port) when the saber is not in use.
