Well, after toying with it for a while, I am finally ready to make reviews for my latest weaknesses.
First, the Guardian.
I've always loved Obi-Wan's hilt from ep 1 and 2. Way more than his latest hilt. So I guess I've wanted one for a really long time.
At first, I thought that US version was not accurate enough for my taste. I was eyeing an other guys version for a while before noticing that the jewel gribbly was actually less accurate than US version. And before you know it, I was looking at US version more and more... Until that fateful day of January, during the winter raffle where I gave in and ordered it.
So what do we have here exactly?
A guardian. In Guardian Blue. Arctic Blue FOC. Obsidian V4. Nickel plated shroud. With recharge port.
Onto the pictures.
This hilt is just gorgeous. The nickel plated shroud is beautiful. And the red button and jewel gribbly are really to my taste.
I've heard that the hilt was big. And with my small hands I was kinda worried. Sure, it's bigger than the prop used in the movies. But I'm not sure it is THAT bigger. I mean, the official disney version seems really huge in comparison. And I can handle it with one or two hands. It feels really good to swing it around.
Let's have a closer look.
The red button is really nice. Even though we can see that the jewel thing is just glued to the bottom of the knob and a little off centered, it's still a nice touch. And I really like the details on the black/nickel emitter.
Here, we can see the grooves. Silver on black. Machining marks can be seen at the bottom of the grooves. I don't mind. Just to let you know they're there. I chose a silver non-illuminated AV switch, just to get a little closer to the screen version, no switch, full silver section above the black grip). Black covertech wheel. Standard I believe.
This is my first GB saber. And it is quite stunning. I really like that shade of blue. When you ignite the thing, the urge to take on Darth Maul arrises. Be prepared.
The hilt features nice windowed screws. A small detail but it adds so much to the hilt.
The pommel is quite nice too.
So, I really love this saber. The choke, just under the red button and jewel know is a bit large, but I still manage to swing it around.
The grooved grip feels really good in the hand.
Overall, I do not regret falling for this one. I really really love it. It's probably my favorite with my Empress.
