This Mara Jade's hilt has been in a corner of my head for a while now.
So when I won a Diamond prize in the winter raffle, after having ordered a Guardian and the twin initiate (review on the way), I hesitated between the Emperor's Hand and a Butcher. And finally went to the EH.
Once again, this version is not completely accurate. But I deemed it worthy of my interest.
Since it's a diamond saber, there are multiple sound fonts and it can change blade color.
But, I ordered it with the following setting : BVA, pulse to VA, Bane's Heart FOC. And it will probably stay that way ^^'
I still haven't tried the other fonts and diamond switch on the fly...
I went for silver screws, silver pommel and squarred activation box.
Onto the saber porn.
The gold covertech wheel is standard. The T-grip on the emitter is a nod to Vader's hilt. It gives the mostly silver hilt a nice look.
This black button is the reason I went for US version rather than the most known other guys version. More accurate.
I previously stated that the squarred activation box might have been a mistake because it hurt my hand a bit when handling the saber in the middle grip part instead of the choke. But it just needed a bit of filing on the top angles.
All good now.
Gold wheel and pommel. The wheel is a nice touch of color on this hilt.
And I love the BVA pulse to VA. BH FOC was a spur of the moment thing, and it's quite nice I must say.
The hilt did came with two scratches. But I kinda like them...
Two handed grip (one hand on the bottom part with the screws, one hand on the middle section or the choke part) or one hand grip both feel natural.
Even though the hilt is mostly one color, the diversity of looks and textures (bottom plates, striped mid section and T-grip emitter) makes it look very agressive yet refined. And certainly not boring.
I thought I would enjoy this hilt more than I did when I unboxed it. I believe there are two reasons behind this.
First, my Guardian came with the order, and I did not expect that to happen.
Second, I came across a more accurate version of the hilt (activation box just under the emitter, with blue and red/pink led on it) that is more fit to be a shelf queen. So I'll probably buy this one in the future.
But this does not mean that the Emperor's Hand is not a good hilt. It is quite beautiful. So if you like it, go for it!
