Truly, she will be strong- A luminous being is she

« on: December 29, 2010, 02:45:55 AM »

So I got a Malice grab bag about a week ago, and it has some paint blemishes(as you'd expect from a grab bag). I'm looking to do some touch ups on it, but I'm not sure what the best paint is for PVC material. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't have access to automotive paints, then Krylon Fusion is the best.

Are there any non spray paints that might work?

Sure, any paint for plastic models will work, and you can get that at Wal-Mart or any hobby shop.

Houston we have a problem! I got some Krylon Fusion spray paint and well....... I sprayed it and it now appears that something funky is happening. It looks like the original black is starting to come off underneath! It looks absolutely terrible! I got Silver Metallic(the black was too Sithy for me). I've used about three or four coats and I can't get rid of the wrinkles left by the original paint chipping! So it looks like I'll have to sand it down and repaint it entirely. Something I'm not comfortable doing. Undecided Me and my darn ideas......

That's unusual, the paint shouldn't have crazed like that unless there was something on the hilt before painting, like oil from your hands.  You're going to have to sand off the new paint, or use acetone to clean it off and then try again.  Be sure to wipe the saber down with some alcohol on a cotton ball before painting.

I guess I didn't clean it as well as I thought. Also being a complete noob I tried painting it outside in 35 degree weather! I would have known not to attempt this if in anything colder than 50 had I taken the time to read the back of the can!:-[ Looks as though this project might have to wait until at least March seeing as how my deck is the only proper place I have for spraypainting.

you could also use chrome tape instead of paint. Just sharing my thoughts though.

I tried chrome tape but I can't get it to go down flat for some reason. I always wind up with air bubble and creases.
