Old man just got his first ultra saber

So I splurged on the grab bag with guaranteed sound and just got it today.  Ordered last weekend, so that's pretty fast.

Already thinking about another along with extra blades, this could get addicting.

It was a Sentinel v4 with advanced sound.   Mainly went with the mystery box because I have no idea what to build so I figured it would be by chance. Yeah, I'm bummed I didn't get a diamond controller or obsidian sound board but the way I figure it is I got a foot in the door and if supporting the program means someone else scores big that's satisfaction enough.  

So I'm a 55 year old man that finally splurged and got a real decent light sabre , not some cheap plastic flashlight where playing with the kids meant making your own sound effects.

I was excited about it and went to the corner store showing it off since I intercepted the fed ex truck going towards my place..  55 year old man showing off his light sabre, lol.  They all think I'm crazy now.  Just wait until later tonight when I'm out in the desert with the dogs training, lol.  

So a little background:  When New hope came out in the local theater I was 12.  I remember this because my dad had a 13 year limit on PG movies before PG-13 was a thing.  Since it came to town in May and I didn't turn 13 until September I couldn't go.  I think I finally saw it a few years later on HBO or something, video rental shops weren't even a thing in my area until the early 80's.  But I've been a huge Star Wars fan since the beginning even if I can't say I saw them when they came out.   I think I missed Attack of the Clones too since I was underway in the Navy.

Bottomline is I've waited 40 years to get a real one.  I authorized my daughter to buy one 10 years ago at Disney World or something but that was a $65 plastic overpriced flashlight that had a plastic wand that would break with any decent wack.  My next one is going to be a $75 mystery box plus extra blades so I can find someone to duel with.

I figure since I'm going with mystery boxes I'll just go with my character of Bounty Hunter and pick up whatever my contract delivers.

Well I guess it's better than going to the VFW or American Legion every weekend spending money on alcohol I'll never get back and living bygone days.  Plus with the right collection I know some youngster will remember me if I leave them in my will, lol, Star Wars is eternal and will outlive us original teenage fans.

Plus I'm glad I found ultra sabers. they really are eternal and can be a legacy.

Now almost 4 years later I got 2 more a Crimson Reaper and a Mystery Box, OMG that Crimson Reaper is gorgeous and Aria at Ultra Sabers is the best.  Already deciding to get the Crimson Scorpion or Crimson Fallen or maybe another Reaper.  Anyways hoping to get more active her, I need your help for my character building and fan fiction I may work on.  Bottomline is I've loved my other 2 but this one and the customer service has sealed my destiny.

I think I introduced myself on this forum about two years ago when I picked up one of those guaranteed-sound-card mystery box sabers. Still got it. Still love it. Still wrapped in paracord because high-desert living pretty much demands paracord on everything that isn’t nailed down.

Quick re-intro:

I live out in the Mojave — what I jokingly call “the sand people,” meaning the real ones: desert rats, gearheads, wanderers, the folks who drift around the dunes. Sabers look damn good out here at night.

I’m not a cosplayer.
I’m not wearing robes or speaking Klingon-tier languages at conventions.
I’m what I’d call an extreme fan — the same way I’ve always described myself with Star Trek:

A Trekkie is someone who’s watched every episode five times.
A Trekker is the one dressed up at a con speaking Klingon.
I’m the former, not the latter.

Same energy with Star Wars.

I’ve been a fan since 7th grade, but my timeline is weird.
Star Wars came out in May of ’77, but small towns didn’t get the big movies until much later. Ashland, WI definitely wasn’t on the first pass. It didn’t reach my local theater until almost a year later — and even then, I still couldn’t see it.

My father had a hard “13 and up” rule for anything more intense than Disney (basically PG-13 before PG-13 existed). I was 12. That was the end of the discussion.

So the first Star Wars movie I ever saw in a theater wasn’t A New Hope.
It was The Empire Strikes Back — with zero context.
No Episode IV.
No backstory.
No explanation of who anyone was.

And it absolutely blew me away.

I didn’t see A New Hope until later, and by then the whole universe already felt massive and mysterious in a way that stuck with me my whole life.

Anyway — I’m back because I’m working on a big fan-fiction worldbuilding project set way before the Jedi/Sith era, and I’d love to share pieces of it here if the community’s cool with that. Not selling anything, not promoting anything — just a desert guy who loves sabers and early-era lore.

I'm having troubles inserting images but I love this Crimson Reaper I almost can't wait until I payoff the paypal credit and next year Black Friday to get it's companion.  My thoughts at this point is to get another crimson something and then the next year after that a crimson dominicide for the middle.  But yeah I might speed up the timeline.

Ever since I picked up my Crimson Reaper, it honestly just clicked with me. The balance, the weight, the aesthetic — it feels like the right blade for my path. So now I’m planning to build a matched pair for combat, and a Dominicide to serve as the core piece when I want a full staff or a showpiece for events.

I’ve been a member here for a while but haven’t posted much. I’d love some feedback on this long-term setup as I start working toward it.

🔴 Crimson Reaper ×2 — Combat Twins

These will be my dedicated fighting sabers.

Electronics: Obsidian V4
Blade: Single-color orange
Role: Durable, reliable combat sabers

Why: I prefer the toughness and simplicity of the older UltraSabers designs for real sparring. No RGB, no complexity — just clean, strong single-color blades built for abuse.

⚔️ Dominicide — The Centerpiece

This one is meant to be the trophy of the collection.

Electronics: Proffie, full RGB, multiple sound fonts
Role: Cosplay, display, Comic-Con, the “show blade”
Use in Staff: This sits in the middle when I run all three sabers as a staff
Bonus: If I need it to act as a multi-color single blade, I can just pop a blade plug on the other side — Maul-style.

This lets the Dominicide be fully cinematic while the Reapers stay practical.
Why This Build Works for me.  I want a flexible system that covers everything:

Heavy sparring → Reapers
Showmanship / events → Dominicide
Full staff mode → all three connected
Single multi-color blade mode → plug the empty end and go

It’s the most complete setup I’ve ever envisioned, without sacrificing durability or aesthetics.

I’d really appreciate input from anyone who has:

experience balancing mixed-hilt staffs
run multiple Reapers together
tuned Proffie for Dominicide
or just built a similar multi-saber system

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

I love how you have certain sabers for different things.  Like you I have in my stats vitals here on my signature what sabers I own and what I use them for and what status they are in.  I also love Ultrasabers old technology. Well honestly the handle Desert Dog has died out, that was before all the betrayal, trials and tribulations I have endured over the last 2 years,  and I've moved to GhostWalker which is going to get weaved into my character lore.  But, I remembered I have an account under the old and I am not one to hide from my past.  Eventually, as I build my character lore to reflect my history I'll see if the mods can change my account name or just make another.

As for my build, I'm really excited about it.  I'm almost thinking why not just pull the trigger for the matched pair before the black friday/cyber monday 25 % off ends on the 12th.  I've been in contact with Aria at UltraSabers and she gets what I envision, maybe I'll just bounce it off them.  

Questions I need to answer soon.  Is this setup the best combat setup for me.  Crimson Reaper Obsidian v4.  Should I match pair them? Or maybe another crimson hilt.  I'm leaning to matched pair and I just like the PCB design since my back history is retired Navy Electronic Technician, and my character lore sticks along those lines in the early days of Proto Sabers turned into the light saber we now love.  

Eventually I'm going to add either a crimson dominicide, maybe even a third sister if it ever comes in Crimson.  This dual saber will sit in the middle of all three together when in staff mode and will be the multiple colors and sounds.  

Anyways, hoping to make the decision by Friday.  Yeah, I should wait for budget reasons but oh well, lock it in while it's still fresh on Ultra Sabers order history..

So it changes everyday I'm thinking the crimson scorpion now and seeing how they work together I may get just a blank reaper hilt to just balance everything cosmetically.  I got an email in to US with a couple of questions and looking for advice.  The cart now has a scorpion and a dominicide to help finish the Resonator build.

The dominicide is just going to be a stunt saber in white and colored disks it's more of a resonant tuning chamber but can be taken down to use as a heavy combat dual saber.

Sounds like a cool setup.
My son has a Crimson Reaper and an Azure Reaper and when you put them together that's one long staff. Shorter blades are definitely more useful in staff form.
I think the Crimson Scorpion would look good with the Reaper. We will look forward to seeing what you pick and how it turns out.
