I honestly believe...(can't believe I'm saying this)...is the BEST thing DSW has released to date. The meme (below) was right. And I hate to say it, but it seems they do their best work when they don't involve the Force. Quit trying to rewrite what the Force is about. Quit trying to write socially popular kitsch that won't age well. Quit writing for the idiot "woke". Just write good stories. Good stories will stand up for themselves, and the fans will be drawn to them.

I agree, no show is perfect but unlike the other Disney stuff no issues were completely jarring and off-putting [the power of one......], and were no worse than any other fictional series (Galatica, Babylon, Stargate what have you), and the good aspects more than make up for it, and despite being called 'Andor' its really an ensemble piece and is stronger for it, the ISB stuff especially was well done, I at least can sympathize with their desire to maintain order over a potentially unruly populace, even if their methods are questionable. I definitely agree that not including the Force as an active things is a positive, the Galaxy is bigger than just Jedi and sith or Force users, Mandalorian seemed to be on that path but then changed its mind because...merchandising. We all know the Force is out there, but we don't need sabers out every story or series to remind us.

This^^

To wit: Mrs. Dutchman is absolutely, completely, totally NOT a Star Wars fan; yes, she is SO awesome that she'll cosplay as a Gray Jedi BUT it's really not her bag; she just does it because she's interested in my hobbies...and she might be a bit insane (she did, after all, marry me  Grin).

THAT SAID: she absolutely loved Andor, looking forward to each episode the way that I usually do...just without the soul-shrinking disappointment that I've felt with the majority of Disney Star Wars.

That's what made Star Wars (makes? mebbe...) so wonderful: a rich, open and incredible galaxy that has infinite possibilities with countless stories!  Now I personally prefer Jedi/Sith/Force stories HOWEVER that in no way, shape, or form stops me from enjoying other stories ("Andor" and some Season 1&2 episodes of "The Mandalorian").

Like Logos, I am very much looking forward to "Andor" Season 2^^

Exactly. If you ever want a good read, check out Cloak of Deception by James Luceno. Yes there are Jedi in it, prominently, but the real meat is in the "pleebs" (space pirates and terrorists) that DSW so fondly overlooks because there's no merch in it. Plus, the Jedi get totally played by a non-sensitive.

I know no series is perfect....(except ATLAB). I guess I put SW under higher scrutiny because a) coming up on a 50 year legacy (being ruined by chuckle heads with an agenda) and b) they have BOTH Disney & SW munnies. Nothing should come off as low budget, especially the writing.

There's never an excuse to poorly tell a story (not commenting on The Acolyte since I haven't watched it). It doesn't matter how much money you have. But I agree, the more money you do have, the higher quality everything should be.

Of course. There're always examples of things done poorly. Especially when compared to things from the past (Like Star Wars or LOTR that have aged magnificently in the vfx/cgi department, even thought it's not perfect), but the goal should be to never repeat those mistakes, and make things better and better each time.

Soooooo...............

Are we looking forward to the release of Andor S2? Part of me is. But my sinical side thinks that they're going to "fix" everything that made the first season good in order to bring the series in line with their normal level of agenda driven crap. I want to have hope though.

I'm going to hope that it will still be good. Will it be as good? I don't know. But that trailer (other than the music) looks fantastic. And if nothing else, it 'looks' good (visually, costuming, cinematography, locations, etc.). Which is far more than can be said for a lot of the other shows.

I've got some hope given it was always a planned 2 season story so hopefully coherent and flows on. Skeleton Crew also restored aome faith after the Acolytes uneven quality.

Sadly, Andor is the only thing I feel that D+ has done right...and it felt the least SW. One problem, that was recently pointed out to me, was that this series had a remarkable lack of aliens in it. But on another note, the overall story was good enough that if you took out the lasers and spaceships, the story could easily take place on earth, which makes it relatively easy to grasp.

I can't wait to see Syril and Dedra's wedding. Grin

Right now, "Andor" Season 2 is THE reason that I'm going to renew my D+ subscription.

I'm really, REALLY hoping that Season 1 was NOT a fluke and that "Andor" will cleanse my palette from the utterly atrocious "Acolyte" (I have not seen--nor do I really care to see--"Skeleton Crew;" I'm just as disinterested in that show as can be).

...Oh, I've heard/read ravings that there is going to be a new "Rey" movie after Mando&Grogu.  Again: I REALLY hope that is NOT the case...

Oh, honey. I weep for your loss. No should have endured that. You should have left it to the pros with haz-mat suits to wade through and review on YouTube.

My info says that Rey Rey is supposed to get her own trilogy (that no one will see because everybody's sexist). And I didn't even watch Mando S3 (no Gina) so I couldn't care less about a movie.

Yeah "The Acolyte" was just terrible: horrible writing, lackluster acting, non-existent plotting, so, SO many contrivances... Complete waste of time.  I do not blame you one bit now for NOT watching it.

I have to admit that I have absolutely zero interest in a Rey movie/trilogy.  Period.

And "Mandalorian" Season 3 is just a trash fire of a narrative.

I saw the snippets in reviews. Acolyte was a burning toxic waste dump. Raxus Prime being Deathstarred would be a smaller dumpster fire. And better yet, everyone involved was instructed to present it like it was high art. But what else could you expect from former-personal-assistant-to-Harvey-Weinstein?

Heh you're not wrong.  But just to specify: it wasn't as bad as what I'd heard/read; it was worse.

I've read fanfic that is FAR superior to what was presented.
