Sentinel Survivor

Hello Star Wars enthusiasts, I know it will probably be a couple of years before the 3rd Jedi game comes out, but I wanted to talk about some of the things I hope will be in the next Cal Kestis game:

One change I loved going from Fallen Order to Jedi Survivor was the introduction of new Jedi abilities, such as the Jedi Mind Trick and Force Lift. The easiest way to explain this in the story would be to have Cal search for Jedi Holocrons as a type of Collectable item to upgrade your skills. Not only would this provide Cal Kestis with a reason to leave Tanalorr (in search of other abandoned Jedi Temples), but this would also show how much Cal Kestis has grown as a character. Because Cal spent the entire 1st game trying to get one holocron (albeit a very important one), and now he collects holocrons as side quests. For those of you saying, "Why would Cal leave the safety of Tanalorr for Jedi Holocrons?" a likely reason could be to train Kata (who might have a connection to the Force, since her father was a former Jedi). Kata being Force-sensitive and Cal trying to act as a Mentor/Father Figure could also serve as a driving factor in the storytelling of the third Jedi game.

Another focus of the story should be Cal's struggle with the Dark Side of the Force (since we know he tapped into its power multiple times during the events of Jedi Survivor). I feel like Cal is transitioning into more of a Grey Jedi role or something similar, like Ahsoka or Baylan Skoll. He's not a Jedi anymore, with his use of the Dark side and his relationship with Merrin (which I would also like to see development with), but he certainly is not a Sith, because Cal is using his abilities to help others (not gain more power). One ability that Cal could develop, which would make him question whether or not he has slipped too far to the Dark side, is Electric Judgement. There are several reasons why I think Electric Judgement would be a great new ability for Cal to gain in the 3rd game:

1. Cal would not know what this ability is and would probably mistake it for Force Lightning (even though it would be yellow instead of blue or purple). Because of this, he would be concerned that he has completely fallen to the Dark side, which would provide a conflict/struggle for Cal, Merrin, and Kata to overcome in the 3rd game.
2. This could provide a starting point for Cal searching for Jedi Holocrons.
3. It would bring a Legends ability into Star Wars Canon (since the Fallen Order & Survivor are considered to be Canon).

After accidentally using Electric Judgement, Cal could come across a Holocron that mentions Plo Koon's discovery of an ability similar to Force Lightning. This would open up several side quests where Cal goes to other abandoned Jedi Temples to try to find more information on Electric Judgement. Along the way, Cal could unlock new Force abilities and/or lightsaber techniques some each holocron he uncovers. Then the Final holocron (maybe the Great Holocron) could contain Plo Koon's full description of the ability. Then Cal would realize that Electric Judgement is a Light side ability, and that he has not fallen to the Dark side (at least not completely).

Another interesting use for Electric Judgement could be that Cal can use this ability to "judge" whether someone is an enemy. So when Cal uses the ability, "guilty/bad" individuals are incapacitated (not killed, just knocked out or something), and "innocent/good" people are completely unaffected by the yellow lightning surrounding them. I don't think this has ever been stated in any Star Wars media (just a personal idea of mine), but it's also right there in the name. Also in the book Jedi vs. Sith: Essential Guide to the Force, Plo Koon talks about how he discovered Electric Judgment during a hostage situation on Metellos. He says, "Pommel [the criminal] began pulling the crying girl...to a small ship" then he states "I did not feel anger as I directed the lightning at Pommel's head, nor did I fear for the girl's safety. I was calm and in control of my faculties." So obviously the girl was being held (possibly at blaster point) by the criminal Dreed Pommel when Plo Koon let loose a blast of lightning; however, the girl was not hurt by the lightning. So the idea that the Electric Judgement does not hurt the innocent doesn't seem like much of a stretch. Especially given the description of how Plo Koon used Electric Judgement. This aspect of Electric Judgement could also be an interesting plot point for the 3rd Jedi game. For example, there could be a situation where Cal uses this ability on someone he thinks is a threat, only for them to be completely unharmed, or maybe there's a hostage situation with Merrin and/or Kata (similar to Plo Koon). The 1st scenario is probably more likely to happen after Bode's betrayal at the end of Jedi Survivor. But that would depend on how the "judgement" actually works (whether it's based on the user's perspective or just the Force in general). Either way, it would be a really cool concept, and this concept would differentiate Cal's Electric Judgement from the Force Lightning of another well-known video game character...

The last thought I have about the next Cal Kestis game revolves around playing as different characters. In Jedi Survivor, there's a brief period where you get to play as Cere Junda (Cal's mentor). While this was an interesting concept, I found it hard to play as Cere because she had a completely different power set and lightsaber technique than Cal Kestis. Because of this, fighting the stormtroopers as Cere felt a bit awkward. Then Cere had to fight none other than Darth Vader, which, in case any of you didn't know, is an extremely hard opponent to beat in any Star Wars game. Needless to say, I was stuck as Cere fighting Darth Vader for a long time, mainly due to me not understanding how to use her skill set (and I could not find any practice arenas or demo's in the main menu). So in the next game, if we get to play as Merrin using Nightsister magick, or as Greez flying the Mantis, it would be nice to have a pop-up menu where I can go through their abilities and how to use them (just like how each of Cal's new abilities had a short video demonstrating how to use each power).

That's all I had to say about the next Cal Kestis game. If anyone else has any ideas or wishes for the 3rd Jedi video game, Please feel free to respond. I would love to hear what other people think.
