Let me get straight to the point, everyone wanted a cool
jedi name or sith, right? But that name would be empty
without a background story, so here's some guidelines
for character creation.

1. Name

Quite self explanatory, but no matter how fancy sounding your
name is, base it on which planet your jedi comes from.

Another would be joining the last three letters of your name
to the first two or three of your surname.

Lazy? Use this: http://www.xach.com/misc/jedi.html

My name is Onda Caval of planet Solmux.

2. Jedi or Sith

Now, you decide which side of the force you wish to serve.
I won't give any remarks, just join the jedi okay?

3. Blade Color

Believe me or not, the color dictates your character and emotion.
And most would never take this into consideration when creating
a character, don't do the same mistake.

4. Costume

Everyone wears the generic jedi robe or sith, but honestly,
get yourself something better than that. A good example would
be the Old Republic game where robes can come in many colors
and designs that would make the generic jedi stand behind.

Now, I'm not saying trash your old robes for new feathers,
just that its not taboo for a jedi to have his own uniform.

5. Motto

Want to be like the REAL one? Go read books, lots of them!
And create your own motto from scratch.

So others quote you instead and not you to them.
I don't have one so don't ask.

6. Fighting Style

Ah, this area now needs the help of someone who practices martial
arts. This forum has information regarding the seven forms of the
jedi path, you can go there and ask the masters which style works
for your ideal approach in an attack.

That wraps it up, from here, you can write a short story to back up your
costuming at the cons. And bewilder some costumers that are just
your run-of-the-mill ones.   Wink

But what if my character's a Rebel X-Wing Pilot?  Cry

I actually have an idea for an unorthodox Jedi named Stan. He's kind of you're typical slacker stoner type and not a very good Jedi. They don't even trust him with a lightsaber. lol.

I agree completely on the unorthodox costuming bit.  My current Jedi outfit is dark green sleeved cloak with a simple tunic underneath.  For the Sith, I have a black tunic with red highlights and symbols.

I've never had a motto, but it might be a good starting point if you don't have much idea where you want to go with your character.

Why wingmate, I'd have thought you knew who to come to for THAT! lol If your character's a Pilot, I can help. Been playin' one fer years in RPs. Some things to consider would be where he came from, why he joined up, what specifically he can't stand about the Empire, how long he's been a Rebel, how he became a Pilot, is he with THE Rebellion or just another Rebel Cel, what Squadron is he with, what's his position in that squadron, how good of a pilot is he, how old is he, what engagements has he been in, what systems has he visited... things like that. And for any vile Imps out there Grin just reverse those and you'll be good.

Also, Jedi Stan sounds very interesting. Not a very plausible character... but interesting. Perhaps if he were to be New Jedi Order... *ponders* A Glit-head Jedi...... not a bad idea.... Who knows what that could do to his perception of the Force!

Story, story, story... without going into great gory details, I got a story. Jammo, Knight of the Old Republic. This kid from the Tapani sector has a blind man for a teacher, aliens and other strange acquaintances, and a knack for trouble. Saber colors? Jammo is a tinkerer and seems to always be playing with kit. His style is downright crafty, even a tad treacherous for a Jedi (that's the feedback I've gotten , anyways).

Those are good tips Manroon. I'll put them to use once I'm done with Stan.

Stan was brought into the Jedi order a little later than most, kinda like Anakin. See they thought Stan was the chosen one, for about a month until little Ani came a long. He's quite strong in the Force he's just not the most competent Jedi. Too many Death Sticks, and a bit too much Glitterstim have rotted his brain. He doesn't have a lightsaber anymore because the other Jedi don't trust him with sharp objects or weapons. lol.

Glad to help! Grin By coincidence, I know a Squadron that'll have some openings in a while... XD Seriously though, I do...

Stan sounds hilarious. I've got to see that story when it's done! lol

Where abouts is this squadron?

I'll post a thread in the fan fic section, as soon as I get a chance to sit down and actually write it. Wink

I'm a flight simulator fanatic myself, but never thought of writing
that theme for me. Someone write up for the fighter pilots of the
new republic!

Well, Letters is about a fighter pilot of the New Republic... and if you want to see the stuff what puts my work to shame, check out the X-Wing series of novels by Allston and Stackpole! Best star wars books EVER! lol

Good man! I might be awesome with a T-65, but the Rogues put me to utter shame in the X-Wing Series. The Wraiths... maybe not so much... XD Grin

Found this thread while digging around bored lol.  Gotta get my character going, I still don't have anything that resembles a uniform really - although I'm thinking something with some dark grey and black.

All I have right now is a Jedi Master named Nero Attoru who wields a green blade and utilizes an elegant form of lightsaber combat which is essentially Form II, while occasionally utilizing the more aggressive Form V.
