Ladies and Gentlemen, Jedi and Sith, and any grey area force adepts in between. :-D
I would like to issue a fun challenge to any of the non master members of the forums.
We all became addicted to ultrasabers because they are THE combat lightsabers, we can duel with them! I want to see more saberwork from everyone.
A lot of the videos we all see from fellow forum members are spinning videos, which don’t get me wrong, are pretty epic (like the jar’kai obi-ani spin we recently saw...mind boggling)
And we all love to dissect the seven forms of lightsaber combat in the way of the saber threads, and we all love to watch videos with lightsabers....its an addiction really.
I think it would be brilliant to see more videos from everyone, all skill levels, all styles. Our lightsabers are not for show, they are for use!
What I am proposing, is that everyone start making an effort to document their practice, not an entire session mind you, but small clips, thirty seconds, a minute, two minutes whatever. As long as we all do it on a regular basis, document it, put the date in the title, who you are and what style you are going for.
We are part of one of the most amazing online communities I have ever encountered, everyone helps everyone out, that is so so so incredibly rare these days.
So lets help each other out with this. Take your videos, and post them up on a regular basis, every week, two weeks, a month, as long as its consistent, because it gives us a good record of progression we can all look at. Dont worry if someone is better at one thing than you, or you cant quite pull off a move you have been working on, thats what this is for. Sometimes a couple of words of encouragement can push you to try harder, and really excel at what you are attempting.
Try to work on the practical side of it, lightabers are weapons after all. Make it showy, it fits with some syles, thats cool. But make sure it has some practical application too so that you can use it in a duel.
Have some dummy work, shadowboxing, heck a short clip of a multiple strike combination you have been working on.
Another added bonus, is that this is going to give the resident masters more to look at, to help guide us along. That is what they are there for after all, to teach. And the more consistent progression they can see, the better they can guide us even farther on our path.
Here is my youtube link, I try to toss my forum name into most of the titles, and try to label the other guys in our group as well, since they don’t have their own channels
http://www.youtube.com/user/durzoblint09/videosPost your own youtube links directly into this channel, make sure to date any videos you take. Everyone can find your entire channel by following the link directly to youtube.
Lets see what everyone can come up with. Ive already talked to a couple of the masters before issuing the challenge, they seemed to like the idea.
May the Force be with you
