After learning a bit more about Quick Disconnects, and finding to my delight that I had the foresight to include them with my latest saber orders, I began to entertain the idea of moving the MLS units between my sabers.  My Raven is VA, and my Archon is BR.  I was tinkering with the idea of swapping the MLS units between them to produce different looks.  However, I have two questions:

1.  I notice that the Raven's VA MLS unit uses two leads (presumably because it uses two LEDs to produce that color).  Is it possible to move that to my Archon, whose MLS unit presumably uses the single Quick Disconnect lead, to power the single LED without additional wiring?  This leads me to my 2nd question....

2.  The MLS unit in my Archon seems to be wedged in there pretty tight.  So tight, in fact, that I have been unable to get it to budge, thus producing my question about the wiring differences between single LED MLS units (since I have not actually seen what lies behind it), vs. multiple LED MLS units.  Any suggestions on how to free it without causing damage?  I have tapped it on my palm rather forcefully, and it remains right where it is.

I would like to just alternate the MLS units between these sabers, but if (due to the wiring difference) that is not possible, I am not above obtaining another MLS unit that I CAN use to change colors on them.

Any information you have on this would be helpful, and appreciated.

All MLS units (regardless of their color) should be interchangeable.  The leads that come out of the MLS unit should end in a single adapter (of sorts) that plugs into the plug in the saber.  If that is confusing, I can provide pictures of what I am talking about.

As for removing a stuck MLS, I has this problem with my bellicose, that eventually (I'm not exactly sure how) resolved itself.  I think if you continue with the hitting of the saber, it should eventually dislodge it without causing damage.  Just be careful when removing the unit, as they sometimes have short wires in the saber, and if you just yank on it, you can run the risk of ripping the wiring out of the saber.

I hope this helps, and if any of this was confusing let me know and I will try to clear it up.

Yes, I swap my LEDs often. I found that if it is stuck, often it is sitting in there at a certain angle. I have taken a rubber tip pencil eraser and gently pushed it out. Just do it carefully and gently.

Here is a detail that I forgot to include.  My Raven has FOC, and my Archon does not.  Is that a factor?

I would think in that case, the FOC functionality supported in the MLS of the Raven, would not work if moved over to the Archon, but the regular LEDs should.  If so, the the red MLS from the Archon (lacking FOC, and the extra leads that make it work), would not support FOC in the Raven.  So, by moving things around, essentially I would sacrifice FOC.  Does that follow?

As long as there is light, I will be here.

As previously stated, the metal of the unit is interchangeable with all sabers that use MLS LED units.  The FOC units have an extra lead coming off of them that is usually red.  From my investigations of my units during the upgrade of my Overlord, I have learned that the FOC units have all of the + pads needed on the LED star wired together.  The Obsidian sound board changes the colors via the - pads which are wired to 2 separate wires.  The + and Main - go to the Black connector that should be on all QD sabers.  The FOC - goes to the Red connector.

When switching the units, you will only connect the Black connector if you have one FOC saber and one Non-FOC saber.

On a side note, I am investigating whether you can add a 2nd - wire to a single color LED and connect it to the FOC on the Obsidian 2.0 via the Red connector.

To summarize, as long as you have the Black QD connector on both sabers and both LED connected, then you are in good shape.  You can let the Red connector just take a break for the time being.

Also, let me know if your Non-FOC LED cuts out when the Flash on the Obsidian 2.0 is activated.  It will help me answer a question with my current project.

Hope I have made this only slightly muddled and answered your questions.
