So over the past couple of months I got three ultrasabers and after playing with them for a long while I realized I had no efficient way of displaying them in my room. After long hours of spinning or dueling against my younger siblings I would just lean them against the corner wall of my room, but that just didn't do the sabers justice. Plus the blades of the sabers could possibly start to warp/bend from being leaned against a wall constantly day after day. I've seen people use pool cue racks, but I prefer to display my sabers without the blade to save space and with only three sabers I would have a lot of empty space in the rack.
So I decided that I needed a stand and began my search, but to no avail. All my searches from custom saber stand makers from other forums, ebay and esty gave me prices that were far to much for me to justify buying. The cheapest custom stand for a single saber I found was $25 plus shipping and the cheapest stand i found was a Master replicas/hasbro stand for $15 , but they are hard to come by and I needed three of those to display my sabers properly. So 3x 25= $75 plus shipping for readily available saber stands which is way to much money in my opinion that could be used for buying sabers or if I got lucky and snagged three Master replicas/hasbro stands from ebay for $45 plus shipping. Either way the odds and money of getting stands were not in my favor.
That is until i was walking around walmart today in the cooking utensil section and saw a spice rack stand that called to me and told me.
"Make me into a lightsaber stand!"
So I did..
What you need from walmart. All items cost about $5 to $6 depending on your walmart.
Spice rack stand
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-3-Tier-Bamboo-Cabinet-Organizer/164565232 packs of sticky chair leg pads
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Waxman-Felt-Pads/17474455 OR 2 packs of sticky picture tabs
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bulldog-Hardware-Picture-Tabs-12pk/17474345Now I bought both to see which would work better.
you only need one type or the other, but they both work fine. I prefer the sticky picture tabs though since they are clear.
-If you bought the Chair leg pads cut them in half with a pair of scissors or a razor blade, whatever you have that's sharp. Remove the sticky plastic backing and place them on the spice rack with the round side facing inward.
-If you bought the sticky picture tabs, the pack has big and little triangles.Remove the sticky plastic backing and stack the smaller triangles on top of the bigger triangles as shown in my pictures.
Note.
You will need only two stacks of chair pads or sticky triangles on the first two rows of the stand. While you need four at the third and highest step to prevent the saber from falling back wards. In my pics below i show both being used.Stand laying on its back

Red, Blue, Green stop light. Ha!
Extra pics of the stuff i used.

And thats it
Though granted the stand looks a little plain. I will try to experiment with paint some time later this month. I will see where it takes me and will post my results.[/s]
Finished painting the stand black yesterday. I used Krylon gloss black paint from walmart.just make sure you do light coats over a long period of time I over did it on one part of the stand so i had to sand it and redo it again. Patience will help the paint job come out nice!
