Hey All,
Thank you all for your great ideas for these saber mounts, Your ideas have been awesome and got me into my garage to see what I had to make my own wall mount. I have 5 sabers just from my 1st order and knew that they needed a home.
I walked in the garage and lo and behold I found some scrap wood just laying around. I happened to have a decent piece of a 1"x3" and some L-brackets.
I headed to Lowes and get a 1 1/8" arbored hole saw drill bit and some hammered metal black spray paint. I spaced the holes about 3" apart and drilled 9 holes into the piece of wood I had. I screwed on the L-brackets and painted the mount. All in all, it took me about 2 hours to put it all together and paint it.
When it was dry and ready to mount I stuck it in my little closet under the stairs and took a few photos.
So all in all my little project cost me $18.00. $11.00 for the drill bit and $7.00 for the spray paint. The scrap pieces of wood I actually got from Lowes at an earlier date for free. I asked them if they had scrap wood that they were going to trash and they gave me quite a bit of scrap wood, so it doesn't hurt to ask them (you might get lucky).
I really didn't spend a lot of time putting it together, but for a rough draft copy I'm pretty happy. Since Im already on the hook for at least 3 more sabers (coming soon) I know Im going to have to make a more detailed and clean product.
Below are the pics I took. Hope this helps others to tackle their own wall mounts.
