Thanks, Rifter!  This was what I needed to see not just for my saber, but also for my Ren helm that I have decided to redo the paint job on. Smiley  This was the part I had heard about, but not seen HOW to do.

I have to give a new point to Darth Rifter...I am very happy with how my Flamberge came out.  Next step: finish my mask!

Thanks everyone. I didn't even know this topic was still alive. This is a great temporary effect and easy to remove. A permanent option which gives it a much more real look is sandpaper. Happy customizations.

Your video helped me alot on my Renegade LE, eventually prob try same technique on a blaster. But I have a question, what kind of clear coat do you/or anybody else use? Like specific brand paint on or spray, noticed some of weather effect coming off so want to seal it before I rub to much off. Will the clear coat make it shiney, looking to seal the paint but trying to avoid making it shiney again.

Thank you so much for this. I really wanna do this on my saber when I order it. Do you have a recommended grit for the sandpaper method?

I used this method and id say stick with fine higher count, rougher stuff would probably scrath the piss out of it. But I first used super fine like 12k sanding squares for models..and taht almost seemed to much, as I could tell anything was even sanded.

Nice write-up and video! Did anyone find out what kind of clearcoat you use afterwards? Is it brush on clearcoat or rattle-can?
