The Mad Professor

« on: July 20, 2012, 07:21:07 PM »

I am new to the forum and to the realm of saber building itself.

I am jumping in head first by designing, building, and wiring my saber from scratch.

Apparently I am an idiot, and a glutton for punishment for doing this, but as they say: Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

Welcome, Jev and I wish you luck in your endeavor.  And I always say, anything worth doing is worth doing twice!

It's a learning experience, but it isn't as difficult as people make it seem. You'll do fine, and you'll learn easier ways to do things if you keep building.

Anyways, welcome to the forum! Happy to have you here.

As long as there is light, I will be here.

Welcome aboard.  I did this for the first time myself recently and let me tell you:  it is nerve racking but certainly worth it.  I am not as good as the crew at US but I am learning.  I made a video diary and posted on the forums to take some of the stress away from future endeavors as you are embarking.  Once you are done, it'll be a high that you will want to repeat again and again.

Welcome to the community and the hobby.

I'll never build my own saber. I have absolutely zero interest in it. I'll let Ultra and his guys do all of the hard work. Wink

See, I'm kind of the opposite way. No offense to Ultra or any of the other professional sabersmiths, but I believe that if I want a saber custom made to my own specifications, I should do it myself. If I see a saber that looks "cool," then I'll purchase one. However, there's something almost magical about the feeling of satisfaction you get when you have an great idea and bring it to fruition with your own two hands.

Plus, building your own allows you to potentially do things that are not possible by going through a specific sabersmith...
