That just gets to physics again. Darker colors are dimmer colors by nature, and personally, I do not think this necessarily detracts from the blade. I've got a Guardian Blue SI, and a Fire Orange CE Proph. I prefer the Fire Orange. It's always dimmer, but that color has a deeper, richer tone that makes the blade really pop in a unique way.

Pretty much, here, look at a rainbow. OK? This is simplified, but basically, there's your palette. We're not talking paint on a color wheel, we're talking light in a spectrum. Point to the spot on the rainbow where all the "dark" colors are displayed. You can't have a "bright" dark green anymore than you can have a nice brilliant black saber. So, think, HSB, but consider B to be a function of your battery life, not color choice.
This isn't a perfect analogy but hopefully it helps explain what you're up against.

I wonder...
Maybe someone can try this themselves, someone with a monocolor saber that does their own work. If you could color treat your blade to reflect more of your color, say a translucent blue finish on the blade, you might be able to make the illusion of a darker blue with just a deeper, more vibrant blue.

I just hit on kinda a cool idea... I doubt it would be a big seller, but it might make a cool promo thing or demonstrator for cons. US could make a PVC saber.... out of CLEAR PVC! Just for the heck of being all like 'yeah, you can see inside my hilt' Of course, with PVC being phased out of the line.... probably not gonna happen... but it's still a neat thought. You could let people pick it up at shows, and use it to show how durable the guts are. *spin* *stab* *slice* 'look, they're still in the same spot!'
Eh, I thought it was neat anyways. lol

I've seen lightwhips done(Novastars youtube channel, if I remember right). But it wasn't really that impressive, at least in how it moved. Actually....

Like an Acrylic hilt.  Be even cooler if you could make ALL the plastic in the saber clear. Clear guard on the activator, clear battery pack... Lionel Trains did that in the 50's for their F3 Diesel sets, as a demonstrator. Well... they had a partial paint job, but still. Cool. Rare as all heck though. lol But on an Ultrasaber, it'd be even cooler! Almost like your hilt had a cloaking device.... |

I love seeing how things work. It'd only really be practical as a display saber though, if they could do it at all. Acrylic marrs really easily and I don't think it would stand up to dueling like PVC does. |
