Ummm... sorry, that doesn't say much. Crossguards suck. Spinners suck worse. Whips suck most. I can see this type being well utilized. I mean, c'mon...hidden shoto is my kind of dirty Sith trick. For me, working in universe is mostly about how it a) can be powered and b) functions. This saber is already short, so having enough space to hold adequate power cells and proper crystal and blade configuration mechanics could prove troublesome. There have been other variants that, although I don't like, function as built. Pong Krell's staffs, for example, are basically 2 standard sabers connected by a locking hinge. That makes sense. Saber pikes, same thing; standard saber with a long grip. I despise making a device for visual effect but having it not make sense. And just because some hack put it in their "story" doesn't make it a good idea.

Agreed with crossguards, spinners (yuck) and whips. Now I remember. You haven't seen the fight where it is used in the show. And it was damn well used T_T sure, it leaves less space to install everything but it still could work.
Absolutely it could work. No argument. The hilt just needs to be a little longer. Like I said, this kind of dirty Sith trick is my jam. |

For me, spinners suck the most, followed by stupid crossguards (looking at you Kylo) thant whips. I can understand the interest of a whip. But it then shouldn't cut like a lightsaber. |

I keep seeing this new convention saber that looks cool. Seems to be a Ventress inspired? Its on their Insta page 2nd pic in and has a gold sleeve on the hilt. Just can't tell what it is though  |

 Light whips are trash sci-fi. Light doesn't bend without extreme gravitational influence. Now, don't get me wrong, a whip would be hell to fight. So if you used an energized filament or an energy resistant metal braid-ish thing....sure. I could buy that. Or hell, just imbue a whip with the Force and it could still go toe-to-toe with a saber. I don't care what order you put them in, gimmicks suck. But, yes. Whips shouldn't be able to cut. |
