I've never bought one but it's tempting. For that kind of a price I wouldn't even say it was the real thing. Doesn't have to be pro quality for me.

Oh I completely understand, it's tempting. However I have built too many to know it would just piss me off haha. That and I usually build the set then take them apart and mix them into my collection of parts for building. To date. Only four lego sets have survived this fate. The SD I sold, the B-wing, a Ferrari set, and the Queen Anne's Revenge. My Tantive IV didn't get mixed in but some parts got outsourced for something I built. |

I was pretty happy to find the classic Lego Star Wars Star Destroyer set at a local convention a few weeks ago. That sucker was easily one of the most complex builds I have done. TWO instruction books, a lot of fiddly pieces, but really satisfying to get together. I'd love to get my hands on an SSD set, but those are so expensive...
I also wish that Lego would do more of the Rebel capital ships. Another issuing of the Tantive IV, or Mon Cal cruisers or Nebulon-B Frigates would be cool to have done.

That is so awesome, I have difficulty coming up with Lego models and I'm 40+ yrs (though I did knock up a Jedi Starfighter from a seaplane model). Coincidently, as you know I try and design my own sabers every now and then, well I am just putting the finishing touches to an Artoo themed hilt in Blender! Point for your youngling! |
