Here's my video review of my SY Shock LE. Overall I'm fairly happy with it. It's pretty fun to duel with, and the Obsidian Sound is incredible! 7/10 on the color though. There's no help for it, but the color is mixed kind of evenly. Still, a great saber from Ultra, and the Shock hilt is fantastic! Watch the video for the full review.

Nice! The Shock LE really fits with SY. It's still an experimental color, so it doesn't always turns out perfect, and it usually looks better in a Mid Grade over the UltraEdge. Maybe some Lee Filters or Color Disks could help on bringing out a better tone, worked for my SRD and DVA sabers. Anyway, excelent review!  |

Radical, you can I have the same saber except you'rs is LE. Like Cooler said the color can be tweaked using a filter to even it out. If it wasn't for a detailed review I'd give a point on the saber alone because it's gorgeous; enjoy. |

Beautiful saber!
You could do some experimenting with different resistors on the red dye to try and resolve the color issue. I was able to make a nice yellow from an RGB once, just takes a little patience in finding the right resistor.

I would say that my first saber was a slight disappointment at first because I had opted for the UltraEdge Heavy Grade blade and it interferes with the brightness. I suggest trying either a standard Midgrade or UE midgrade. I have both of those and SY looks much better in a midgrade option than in the UEHG blades.

OK, I have to ask, how do you get a saber with Sentinel Yellow? I've been wanting a yellow saber ever since I ordered my first ultrasabers back in the ultra FX days, which is why i went with Silver with color change discs, but was never happy with that outcome. I don't see SY as an option to order on any saber, is it something you have to request specially?

It's a special Forum Color. You have to order a premium $5 color(VA, SRD or AB), add 5$ of Requisition Charges, and specify in the order's comments that you would like it Sentinel Yellow. Voilá. |

Good to know, i just bought a Guardian for the raffle last week but my next saber will be Sentinel Yellow for sure. Man I'm gonna have to go all out for that one.

Mine might well have been the first sentinal yellow Shock LE, and it's amazing! Mine has an ultra edge, and it looks pretty good. I wish they would iron out any issues with this color and make it a general release, it seems popular!

I know the color disks are a little thick but since the LEDs don't get that hot you could use a theater light gels. Now I know they are called gels, that's just the name for them. They are very thin sheets of colored plastic, they aren't any thicker than a sheet of computer paper and give really nice rich coloring to lights. Beware not all 'gels' are plastic some are glass make sure you get the right ones. But sometimes companies like this one http://sldlighting.com/shopdisplaycategories.asp?id=10&cat=Color+Filters+/+Gels will sell you a sample booklet of colors. AND if you want to talk color choice, you have 100's to pick from. I think a simple yellow gel over your SY will brighten that yellow right up. |

Not to hijack this thread but what filters did you pair with the SRD & DVA?
On Topic:
The Lee filters give a good yellow with Adegan Silver.
Yeah, pretty soon I'm planning to take out all the electronics, replace the guarded switch with a gold AV switch, replace the battery, and replace the LED with a 10W white LEDengin, and use an Oklahoma Yellow Lee filter. It'll be my practice for doing just about the same thing for the dooku lightsaber I just bought on ebay. Only that one I'm planning to make a Crystal Focus build. |
