The 357 Magnum Black Hawk Ruger revolver that I have covers the .38 as well because it came with a 2nd chamber that I can switch to and shoot .38s or 9mm. So it's like 3 guns in one. Grin
You just have to reset the sites after changing the chamber.  Smiley
You should be able to shoot .38 out of a .357 Mag without changing anything.

Do you need moonclips to shoot 9mm Luger from a revolver, or are there dedicated 9mm drums that don't require them? 9mm is a heck of alot cheaper than any rimmed centerfire that I am aware of, but having to use moonclips isn't all that appealing to me.

I have a Webley #1 mk4 that was modified to fire .45 acp in moon clips, its the only one I've ever seen with that modification, and one that shoots the original .455. I prefer the unmodified one.

My pick would be the S&W 638. Classic J-frame with the snag-free design of a hammerless, but preserves the ability to cock the hammer for single-action precision when needed. With cerakote, you can make the gun any color you'd like. I'm sure there's a cerakote applier in your local area.

It's a pretty modern handgun, though. A Beaumont–Adams might be more your style  Wink

I do like the 638. Looks like a good carry gun. I'm toying with the idea of getting my carry license when I get my own place, and probably a shotgun for the house(that is a definite). I only ever hear about 12 gauge, are 20 and .410 still good for home defense?

I always recommend a 12 gauge with a 3 inch chamber just because it is so versatile. So many loads are created for it, so it's great at pretty much everything; hunting, defense, sporting clays, pyrotechnics, forced entry, crowd control, sound effects, etc. If you are looking at smaller gauges because of recoil, there are light recoil loads in 12 gauge. That said, there are defensive loads for 20 and 410 that will work fine for defense if you really want to go that route.

For home defense I would also say 12 gauge. 410 is good for killing snakes.

410 kills clay pigeons pretty nicely too.

Dude!  I'm surprised that gun isn't on wanted posters all on its own!  Nice mod.  :-)  Now, you just need to figure out how to get the red-dot laser sight to shoot out of the eye sockets....

20 and .410 would be fine, but as has been stated the 12 gauge is just so damn versatile.  Really if a Zombie Apocalypse happened and I could choose only ONE gun...it would be a 12 gauge.

I've never been a huge 12ga fan.  I inherited a Winchester Model 12 16ga from my father, however, and its a lot of fun to shoot.  Not quite the number of pellets the 12ga has, but still a good amount if you use 04 buck instead of 00 buck.  :-)

I'm just worried about recoil mostly. I wish I could try a couple but not sure where you can do that...

Check out local gun shops with ranges.  Many of them will let you test-fire a weapon (or one like it).   Anyplace with an indoor range will probably have guns you can check out.  If you're serious about purchasing something they often won't even charge you to try a couple out.

Most of the ranges here don't allow shotguns...
