so I have this intense love for reptiles  and today I got a new guy to add to my growing zoo - a baby bearded dragon I named Sabre!  I'll post pictures soon (probably tomorrow) Just so excited that I wanted to share! Will probably build a miniature lightsaber for him so he can "duel" with it against my Cuban Knight Anole, Nikko |

Reptiles are awesome, good friend of mine used to breed them. Last I talked to him, I think he was even majoring in the study of reptiles. Herpetology, I think he said it was called.

When I move out, I am totally going to try and get myself a pet lizard. Haven't decided on the species yet, but something from the Monitor family would be sweet.
I also love snakes, my uncle actually owned a huge Anaconda on his farm, it was absolutely gorgeous(and surprisingly tame).

Thanks threadjack! Manroon, yes its herptology. I haven't delved into breeding yet but I may start next year. I'm thinking leopard feckless maybe? Cooler, I highly recommend starting with a lizard that's easily cared for. Iguanas are some of the most popular but are also harder. Leopard geckos or anoles are good if you want one you can handle occasionally. Bearded dragons are great but expensive for first time owners. Avoid snakes the first time around. And ALWAYS read up on the species for half a month or so before buying  |

Yeah, I realize that much I'm pretty fond of geckos, and the Leopard ones are extra awesome, so that's a good start I guess. Is there a petco by you? Of all the chain pet stores, they take the best care of the animals - they even have a vet come check them regularly. And they often have unique colorings for the same price as regulars. |

If you are a couch potato, high energy animals would not be for you. Congrats on your new pet. Not much of a reptile man myself but love responsible pet owners. Gotta drop a point for this great advice as well. |
