Would you rather... live in a country that develops a massive space program involving civilian settlements in orbit but has very little consumer amenities (read: food rationing, rickety housing, empty malls) or in a technologically stagnant country where all the scientists and engineers invent is new nice-looking cell phones and new flavors of toilet paper, but a crapton of colorful and diverse amenities and products?
