Yes, I'm putting this in bragging rights! Grin

I was swinging my Bellicose like the crazy fool I tend to be, and I smacked the tip off of a concrete floor. I hit it at just the right angle, and at just the right strength (wasn't a full swing), that the tip and a bit of the blade body snapped off. Hehe. Oooooops! Oh well. I'm relegated to a Padawan blade until I order my son's Prophecy V3, and with it, my replacement blade. Live and learn! Smiley

In the dark

With flash

It's a perfectly clean break. A little clear epoxy and a reinforcing strip of clear tape or three might fix this up...

But really... would I want this tip to fly off in the future? Not really. It's dead.

The Padawan blade is an ultraedge midgrade initiate blade vs the heavy grade pictured, so I get to have fun with my Bellicose 'shoto' until I get the replacement. Oh yeah! This will be fun... going to load Yoda's sabersounds on it for now! Cheesy

I thought saber blades would most likely break there

LoL, my UE blade has a crack right where yours broke. Maybe it's their weak spot? Grin

Take the blade from the hilt.  Pull the film out.  Cut your blade below the break with a pipe cutter.  Use a swiffer cloth to remove debris.  Wrap the film around a 1/2" dowel rod.  Insert rod and unroll film.  With scissors, cut film to match length of the blade.  Use gorilla glue to reattach the tip.  Now you have somewhere between a 30-34" blade.

On your future order, you might need a heavy grade blade as you appear to be as brutal as me.

That was a heavy grade! Cheesy

Great suggestion though! This blade isn't done yet!

Ok, point to you for being more vicious than I with a light saber.  You might want to go shorter with your blade in the future (32" is good for me to prevent me from hitting the floor and I am 5'11")

That is a good suggestion also, Blue. I'm definitely going to replace the blade with a mid grade - probably an ultraedge because I really like the look on camera/film. I might just get a midgrade and an ultaedge mid just so I can have the best of both worlds and see the differences for myself. I've read that the mids look great in person and I'm certainly going to try that out. Not that I like breaking my swag, but I'm kinda proud that I broke a heavy grade - especially after what I've read here. In Vader's ominous voice: "Leave that to me..."

It's funny, but I can't wait to try to fix the blade! Hehe, my first mod. I love these sabers...

OK Blue... your suggestion was a complete success! Instead of a pipe cutter, I used a Dremel (knock-off) and used a cutting disk to chop the tip off, and then a sander to get it nice and smooth again. I could neither pull the film out nor trim it from the inside (what is that stuff? Titanium?), so I did end up with a crease in the tip. I can live with that though! I have my blade back, albeit at 35 inches now! It's not glued in yet, but I'm going to have real issues getting the tip off at this point. I'll just tape it down; it's not going anywhere!

The tip, the extracted part, and a blade plug for scale.

The crease in the tip. It's fairly visible, but it still looks cool.

Back to battle!

The tools.

I forgot to mention, you have to remove the glue at the end of the blade to remove the film.  You rotary cutter can do that job as well.

Ha! It seemed that the film was glued on at the bottom, Blue. I wondered about that! Smiley

I have another idea on how I can trim the film back from the top. We'll see if the creases are here to stay or if they'll smooth out once I trim it back. This is all assuming I can get the tip back off after I 'Jedi-jammed' it in there. I'm afraid that it's wedged in there pretty good! Even if I can't, this is my smackin' blade, so cosmetics are moot at this point. It's still a bright blade and probably brighter (slightly) after losing an inch.

Thanks Master VorNach! These sabers can take a beating - there is no longer any doubt in my mind.

Glad you got it fixed up!  Smiley  And that comment is sooo funny " this is my smaking blade" LOL  Cheesy

I wish I has a better place to practice. The house I am in now is small and the ceilings are only 8' So, once in awhile I hit my ceiling fan with my heavy grade blade, or the chain on the ceiling fan. It scares the crap outa me but hardly puts a scuff on the HG blade.  Cheesy
