Title: First Expansion
Post by: Shaugi on December 23, 2012, 01:39:58 PM
Rise of the Hutts is due spring 2013, currently $9.99 for subscribers to pre-order or $19.99 for non-subs.

New items, new stories and a new planet are included.

TBH probably not worth £20 but £10 isn't too bad!

What they have added for preferred players makes the game actually playable now.

Allowing preferred players access to 4 quickbars, with the next update they will be allowing for 4 or 6 character slots instead of just 2.

If I have an extra 20, why the hell not.

Currently announced for the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion:

  • Level cap increased to 55
  • Personal (read: class) story extended
  • New planet: Makeb

This is all that they have announced so far. There will be more information and more announcements, but everyone seems to be freaking out. They're saying that one planet is not an expansion and other negative things. They're REALLY starting to piss me off. There's more information and announcements to come, which will reveal more stuff. For me, I extremely happy with the announcement, and I have already pre-ordered.

See you on the other side!

You have three levels: Subscribers, Preferred Players, and Free to Play players.

Subscribers get the full monty with no restrictions.

Preferred Players will get up to 6 slots once activated and 4 quickbars.

FTP Players are the most restricted. But as a FTP Player, you can up your status to PP if you spend $5 in the Cartel Market. Additionally, if you were once a subscriber and come back, you are automatically upgraded to PP status. If you are a subscriber currently and cancel, you are dropped to PP status.

i am a preferred player.. and i cant use anything crafted purple... only up to blues.. kinda sucks.. but not the end of the world.. lol... im one of those players that loves to get the good items before you normally do,. i will spend days and most of my funds on crafting lol, i had rare purple items from artifice in my lightsabers on my sage on another serer when i first stated... was nice lol... if i get the opportunity to go paid again i might take it for a month, at least they cant stop me from having items in a gear after that, lol

You can purchase Cartel Coins and buy the ability to equip artifact level equipment from the Cartel Market. You can purchase the ability for one character or for the entire account. This is a alternative to reactivating your account.

i think i would just spend the 15 for a month.. and go crafting crazy... once i have stuff in my gear... it wont stop me from using it after my sub is up.. just dont take it out.. lol, that is more a long term tactic.. and i dont feel like paying here and there for this and that.. when i can save up and get ALOT of good stuff done in a simple month.... but this is down the road lol, just letting others know that preferred players can use most blues, and some purples.. but that's it,, unless they had them equipped before the sub ran out

If you purchase cartel coins, you'll be uprated to preferred status as well

I've been toying with the idea of spending $5 in the Cartel Market, just to get the extra character slots.

I don't even want to think about how much I've spent.  I could have bought a lot of sabers lol

yea the game lost its luster to me months ago, i posted a little bit ago in another SWTOR thread that its just not worth it, to play a game that restricts me... thus, id rather use my money on unrestricted options, such as real life ultrasabers!.. lol, thats about all i have.. i just cant get past the wowy feel either... well, you all enjoy the game for what it is..

The expansion is ok. They added a single story line, not individual class story line. The new planet is pretty nice and I completed the story line in my Black Hole/ Rakata gear ( Jedi Sentinel). To me being a WoW player this was more of a patch. In WoW the content for an expansion was vast and there was a lot more to do.  However I still enjoyed the new content. My main has Artifice, Archeology, and Treasure Hunting. I can now learn the L50 epic crystals by reverse engineering . So far I have learned Hawkeye = Cyan, Purple, Black Red, Black Blue, Black Orange, Black Purple. Indestructible = Cyan, Black Orange, Purple. This has been a great credit maker for me.

Oooohhhh...didn't realised you could RE those now   ;D Time I got onto that.

I've finished Makeb on a vanguard...about halfway through on my Guardian Tank.
Also working on Sage @ CL45, Scoundrel @ 40, Shadow @ 20, Sith Sorc @ 41, Sith Marauder @ 37, Powertec @ 17 and Operative @ 13

Probably finsih the guardian next followed by sage and sorc.

I see that they've introduced Faction Reputation, similar to WoW, which I like. Also noticed account wide Achievements, which I really like. I can track planet specific achievements, including holocrons and lore objects, which I had trouble finding before.

I do not like the dye system. I really wish they would mimick GW2's dye system.

The rep system I like...but the space rep is tough lol
Achievements I'd like to see improved...other than bragging rights I see little points in grinding creatures to earn 10 achievement points.

Collections is also useful for completionists but little else as unlocking items for toons is damn expensive

The endurance Datacron is fun to get. Or try to get.

3 of us spent about an hour and a half trying to get it, in the end only one of us actually got it, the other two (myself and someone else). The other one's heart was racing so much from all of the jumping she said she couldn't try again, so we'll just do it another day.

But just that experience in itself, goofing off with friends trying to get that Datacron was worth the expansion to me. Plus the boss fights are funner.

Having a sage that cann pull helps. A guardian can use guardian leap to reacg friendlies and a vanguard can duel players then harpoon them to him/herself.  Smugglers are pretty screwed though lol

We had a BH do some of the pulling, myself I am an Op so I wasn't able to help out too much except for snarky comments when one of us would die. I think our Sorcerer only used her pull once since I was the guinea-pig for most of the jumps because I'm a tad crazy.
