Title: Initiate V2 in Adegan Silver / Color Filters review Post by: Sir Jenkins the Mediocre on January 07, 2013, 12:40:45 AM Howdy!
I have been a forum lurker for some time now, but have owned a few ultrasabers for a while now. Over the last year or two I have purchased: Dominix V2 - Sun Rider's Destiny (grab bag) Liberator V2 (red) - fire orange (also a grab bag) Overlord with soundboard - Violet amethyst To be honest I don't really know if that Liberator is what I think it is. It was a grab bag saber and I don't see it for sale anymore, so I don't know for certain that it was called that. I decided to pick up another saber with some Christmas money, as I very much want to eventually pull my daughter into the wild wild world of Star Wars, just like her folks. Originally I was going to get her an initiate in Bane's Heart (trying to get pink, ultimately), but at the last minute decided to go with the Adegan Silver and the color filters in hopes that I could mix and match some different colors, and then if at some point down the road she could pick whatever colors she wants. Full disclosure: My daughter is eight months old, and while she does giggle at and try to grab/play with the sabers I have (bright lights! bright lights!), she's so young that obviously this is really more about me than it is her. For now. ;) Anyway, my full rundown is in the video below - one video for the saber itself, and another video focusing on the color filters, should you be interested in that. Originally intended to be short videos, but there really isn't anything short about them I suppose. TL;DR: Was uncertain about how much I would like the silver small hilt and the adegan silver color, but I am super impressed with both. Quality purchase for a little one or for a fully grown one to use single-handedly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkzjSr0FtpI#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkzjSr0FtpI#ws) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEEAKNmJPzw#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEEAKNmJPzw#ws) Title: Re: Initiate V2 in Adegan Silver / Color Filters review Post by: Master Bluespike74 on January 07, 2013, 08:02:31 AM You are correct. The saber is a the Red anodized Liberator V2. Love the collection. Thanks for sharing.

FYI I when first got my overlord I turn it on and woke the my kids during nap not know how load the obsidian sound board really is. LOL

FYI I when first got my overlord I turn it on and woke the my kids during nap not know how load the obsidian sound board really is. LOL Hey, thanks! I love my overlord, it was the first of the sabers I bought and it's definitely the most impressive, but I'm always more inclined to use the others just because I'm not as worried about damaging them. The liberator actually came with SRD and the dominix came with fire orange. The red liberator with SRD looked a little too... christmas-y to me, so I wound up borrowing a soldering iron and switching the LED's. Looks pretty great with the fire orange. I'm assuming it would also look great with sentinel yellow. I particularly appreciate your second vid with regards the filters. Thanks! I have some lee filter swatches on order, so I'm anxious for them to get here so I can start playing with a wider variety of colors. Looking forward to hopefully coming up with some neat combinations. It was nice to get a good look at the filters, and combinations of filters on the silver blade. Also, I might have otherwise overlooked the initiate hilt for some of the flashier option, but you help to place it back on the cards as a possible option for me later on down the track.

Looking forward to hopefully coming up with some neat combinations. I picked some up Lee Filters today but can't experiment yet since I don't have an Adegan Silver MLS unit. I too am looking forward with coming up with unique colour combinations. Title: Re: Initiate V2 in Adegan Silver / Color Filters review Post by: Zren Tobas on January 08, 2013, 10:36:50 PM Nice. Though I don't like the color disks. Lee Filters is way better.
Title: Re: Initiate V2 in Adegan Silver / Color Filters review Post by: Zren Tobas on January 09, 2013, 12:21:31 AM Try the dark blue and light green disks by the way. You'll get Arctic Blue. :D I forget which combos are for Sunrider's Destiny. Then try the dark green and light green disks, its definitely Emerald Green.

Yeah, I'm definitely anxious for the lee filters to arrive. Not sure on the ETA, but patience is a virtue. Right now I am using the two yellowish discs in the adegan silver saber for a nice yellow color (with a little hint of green), and the lime green colored disc in my SRD saber for a more emerald kind of color. I have yet to find a combination that does anything remarkable to the fire orange saber, and haven't played with my VA saber yet. Title: Re: Initiate V2 in Adegan Silver / Color Filters review Post by: Zren Tobas on January 09, 2013, 06:46:36 PM Try maybe red and orange together. Like put the red disk in first then the orange on top. Has kind of a Pyrestone Orange color to it. Like its more red-ish but with orange.
Title: Re: Initiate V2 in Adegan Silver / Color Filters review Post by: Sir Jenkins the Mediocre on January 11, 2013, 07:26:28 PM Kind of a minor update here, I took advantage of the 15% off sale last week to order a second initiate and a few more packs of color discs so that I could make a double bladed saber should I want to.
If you're at all considering using the US colored discs with your silver saber, definitely order more than one pack. The resulting colors are much more impressive if you double up on the same color. Dropping in two orange discs gave me a much nicer orange than just using one, same with the amber yellow color, the pink, and the blues/purples. Haven't had a chance to play too much beyond that, but I like the color discs much more using two of each instead of one. Finally got a shipping confirmation on Lee filters so hopefully those will show up soon. Obviously your mileage may vary but as bright as the adegan silver is I did not feel like there was an unacceptable degredation. I felt like my end result was certainly less bright compared to my violet amethyst saber but fairly comparable to my fire orange. Title: Re: Initiate V2 in Adegan Silver / Color Filters review Post by: Zren Tobas on January 11, 2013, 10:42:47 PM Just wait for the Lee Filters dude. You'll be better off. And for your daughter's saber put in Magical Magenta. Its a nice pink/purple color. I even like it for the Windu look. xp She will like it even more and it'll be way brighter. Or try any of the regular pinks too.

Title: Re: Initiate V2 in Adegan Silver / Color Filters review Post by: Sillucius Pax on January 12, 2013, 01:12:34 AM I myself just ordered an AS saber with extra disks. I plan on picking up Lee's so I can really work with colors. However, my son got a Phantom in AS and I was toying with the color disks in my VA Dominix and I made this fantastic Red with 1 Red and 1 Orange disk.
It looked great while I was in the dark yard going through Shii Cho velocities. Although, I could tell it was dimmer than the straight VA but not by much. Title: Re: Initiate V2 in Adegan Silver / Color Filters review Post by: Sir Jenkins the Mediocre on February 07, 2013, 04:10:57 AM My lee filters finally came a while back and they are, as expected, fantastic. I'll take some pictures sooner or later and share, but I've found three or four tht have given me a limey-green that I really dig, the pink I want for my kiddo, an icy blue, a red-orange, and a yellow. The yellow really may be the best result of them all. If you're thinking about it at all, definitely go for it - I could spend hours screwing with filters and trying for different results.
