Title: The Prophecy of Benihime Post by: Eiyame on January 27, 2013, 06:28:01 AM Designed off of Kisuke Urahara's Benihime.
This is 90% done. I still need to get the gold and put the gold detailing on it. Note: I don't own this saber, its a friends they asked me to customize it for them. They didn't tell me to mode it after Benihime but they cosplay Urahara all the time and I figured they would like it. Not what I would expect to see on a saber. Nice!

The gold isn't on the saber yet. Its just the lighting. Title: Re: The Prophecy of Benihime Post by: srams on January 27, 2013, 06:57:35 AM Oh Ok I get what you did now, very cool. It looks like gold paint already.
Title: Re: The Prophecy of Benihime Post by: kagemusha shin on January 27, 2013, 08:16:04 AM I like the sashel on the end with the red mix makes it look like a taichi sword.
Title: Re: The Prophecy of Benihime Post by: Eiyame on January 27, 2013, 10:19:50 AM Well this is the sword that I am working on emulating on the saber.
(http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f252/lexiongal580/Benihime-kisuke-urahara-15299217-640-480.jpg) I hope to be able to go get the gold paint for it maybe tomorrow. And finish it. Its going to be a lot of work with a number 1 paint brush. But no my friend Ryan bought this saber second hand but it was pretty scratched up so he was of coarse a bit upset about it. But I told him I could paint it up and make it look all pretty. He still hasn't seen it yet. lol. But he doesn't really like the LED color but hopefully when he gets some money I can change it out for him. I need to remove the red paint in the groves repaint them gold, paint the top of the emitter gold and do a few gold details around the rest of the hilt. Also need to paint the covertec wheel gold. The covertec wheel will end up getting replaced with a gold one that's not painted but for now paint will do. Title: Re: The Prophecy of Benihime Post by: swords4two on January 27, 2013, 03:49:37 PM Maybe pick up black show laces and do the Katana's sword wrap on the hilt of the saber.
here is a link on how to do it. http://www.ehow.com/how_6019166_wrap-hilt-samurai-sword.html (http://www.ehow.com/how_6019166_wrap-hilt-samurai-sword.html) Title: Re: The Prophecy of Benihime Post by: Eiyame on January 27, 2013, 11:18:23 PM Oh, I know how to do the wrap. I know how to do a few different ones. I want to finish the painting on it and see if it still needs a wrap. Sometimes less is more.
Title: Re: The Prophecy of Benihime Post by: Ninja-Jedi on January 27, 2013, 11:49:23 PM I dont think u need the wrap but u could add chain coming off the top if u can find something close. Is this a stunt or sound saber? The weathering looks great btw

Is this a stunt or sound saber? The weathering looks great btw It has sound. And thanks I used a different dry brush method than the dry brushing tutorial, to give it texture and the weathered look. Title: Re: The Prophecy of Benihime Post by: Ninja-Jedi on January 28, 2013, 03:10:24 AM If it has sound u could always request a Bleach font or Urahara font in the Sound Font thread. That is if your friend is interested in that sort of thing

Title: Re: The Prophecy of Benihime Post by: Darren_Corr on January 28, 2013, 01:42:07 PM Beautiful, that's what I call authentic lightsaber. Beautiful weathering gave it an awesome battle worn look. Nice work.
I wouldn't wrap it, to be honest. It has that redish contrast and that pommel decoration something. :D I think wrap would be too much. Less is more when it comes to a lot of things. I'm getting that gold paint today so hopefully I'll have final images up soon. are you noticing any of the paint chip or "rub" off after some use? or is this saber more of a display piece? I am thinking of painting my dueling saber, but I want to avoid the paint coming off. :P Title: Re: The Prophecy of Benihime Post by: Soske on March 30, 2013, 12:52:17 AM That is a fantastic paint job.

I am thinking of painting my dueling saber, but I want to avoid the paint coming off. :P If you use gloves the paint does rub off, but then again I didn't seal it at all. So I will have to re do some of the black on it and then clear coat it with Krylon spray paint; I am not sure if I want to use matte or gloss on it yet. That is a fantastic paint job. Why thank you! :) It took me over a week to do it just because I did it in the middle of a northwest winter and even at 70 the house was still to damp and cold to get the model paint to cure and set in anything less than a full day. |
