Title: List for building Shock LE lightsaber?
Post by: Darth Jaedus on May 07, 2011, 06:22:06 PM
Could someone list all the parts I need to build this lightsaber with one color and Jedi sound please? I just want to make sure I have all the needed parts in my cart before I order it.

The Shock LE Hilt, Emitter, Pommel for the body of the saber and a blade and colour of your choosing. Not sure on the electronics.
Or alternatively you could just get the Shock LE Single blade saber with sound.

Yeah that's the part I'm most unsure of also. I don't know if I need the LED emitter for sure or not. If I do, it is necessary that I solder it together?

Aircraft grade aluminum
industrial class metal lathe
electrolytic tank for anodising
drill press
soldering iron
solder
wire
heat shrink
battery pack
speaker
sound board(MR Jedi)
press install latching switch
LED
Aluminum refraction fixture
Heat sink

Am I missing anything or is that pretty much what you need to make a US Shock?

Haha. Man. I apologize for my ignorance, but I thought that most of the parts just screwed in together? Or am I misunderstanding the process?

What? Oh yeah, if you buy the parts from US, they totally screw together. I thought you wanted to MAKE a shock. My bad.  :D

BUT, if you're going to DIY, you'll still need the soldering supplies to do the wiring. Generally speaking, if you're just getting a stunt saber, it's worth it just to let them do the soldering since it's pretty much a direct drive LED. The soundboard option can get a bit pricey through Ultrasabers, but most soundboards cost about $100 anyway and you run the risk of heat damaging your components if you're not experienced with soldering. But, you can buy an empty shock hilt and the switches, and a battery pack with an attached speaker from the US website and do the rest yourself. You'll have to supply your own soundboard for the time being though, I can't find those on the site yet.
