Title: Prophecy mod questions
Post by: mcnaughtonM on April 02, 2013, 04:36:48 AM
Hey guys,

Quick question: How would you recommend removing the insides of a Prophecy so that you could paint it? (I am powder coating)

I got my saber today so I am yet to familiarise myself with all of it, so I figured I would ask those with more experience.

Thanks in advance

Keep in mind that you WILL void your warranty (if you're still in that period). As to removing the insides, I'd take the switch off first (use a flat screwdriver to pry it up), and then snip the wires. I'd then turn the hilt emitter side down until the LED slides out, and snip those wires. Everything else should slide down out of the pommel, and you'll only have a couple of wires to solder.

Ahh okay, I wasn't aware that it would require both diode and switch re-soldering. I really cannot be bothered to do that now haha

they are fairly easy to redo, if it is a direct drive(battery, switch, resistor and led) all you need is basic soldering knowledge (which you can find many videos online). Plus it gets you to Know your weapon if it ever fails or if you get bored and just want to replace your led.

Don't get me wrong, I can solder alright (built an electric guitar and stuff) but I don't enjoy it at all haha

It is still on the cards, just not as enthusiastic any more :p

Ah got it. well I heard of using a Heat gun..But I don't think that would turn out that well. Not a consistent  temp.
