Title: The Versatility of the Archon 2.1 (Pic Heavy) Post by: eerockk on May 23, 2013, 01:17:05 PM Hi all,
A long-awaited part I ordered finally arrived yesterday! It was the one piece that Ultrasabers doesn't offer (but really should!) - an MHS compatible male/female choke! The Archon's setup allows for other Ultrasabers emitters to be used on the Archon, but it makes for a really short hilt in almost all of the cases. The flush vented couplers are great, but are threaded male/male, so only the Archon's emitter cap can go on there. So with the Archon, it's either a standard emitter setup, a modded emitter setup (with a flush vented coupler), or any saber possible, but in short hilt mode. No longer. :) Here is my full length modded Archon with a choke from the other guys. Zren Tobas called it a "Bellicon", so I will also, and he shall take all the credit for that epic name. (Thanks dude). Title: Re: The Versatility of the Archon 2.1 (Pic Heavy) Post by: nicholta on May 23, 2013, 09:01:41 PM I have that same choke with the Overlord emitter on my Manticore hilt. The Mati-lord? The Over-core? How do you decide what to name these things?
Title: Re: The Versatility of the Archon 2.1 (Pic Heavy) Post by: LiethStarKiller on May 23, 2013, 09:17:33 PM I'm just gonna say right now Eerockk, that Bellicon is frickin' gorgeous. Absolutely amazing. I would buy that saber in a heartbeat. I would really like Ultrasabers to offer that choke piece, because it gives sabers that thin neck from the Obi-Wan Episode III and Luke Episode VI sabers. Does the blade actually go down that piece, or does it kind of just rest in the emitter? If it doesn't go down, is the blade secure and still bright???

If it doesn't go down, is the blade secure and still bright??? I bought that same piece for my archon (in all silver though, rather than the black) and no, the blade only sits in the top part of the choke, but yes, its plenty secure, and I've had no problems in dueling.Title: Re: The Versatility of the Archon 2.1 (Pic Heavy) Post by: Matticus on January 21, 2014, 04:11:29 PM I've been thinking about doing something very similar to this, but I'm concerned about how well it would work as a two-handed weapon. Do you feel that you have enough room to wield it comfortably using both hands (without being forced to use a baseball-style grip)?

Do you feel that you have enough room to wield it comfortably using both hands (without being forced to use a baseball-style grip)? With that choke, the Archon and another MHS emitter is a solid two-hander. Without the choke, the saber is a bit short for two hands, but works amazingly as a one-hander. Right now, my Archon is in short mode for the Makashi I'm working on, so the versatility of this saber continues to serve me and my training regimen perfectly. Title: Re: The Versatility of the Archon 2.1 (Pic Heavy) Post by: Aurick on January 21, 2014, 07:58:25 PM I too have an archon, and I will have to purchase said choke because this is freakin awesome!!! Point for inspiration!!

I was actually considering that setup for a while, and my greatest concern was the blade not setting in the choke, but it appears that is not a problem! That plus some more hilt customization offers the makings for a great saber.
