Title: Saber colours
Post by: Darth_Arkanus on June 11, 2013, 05:57:06 PM
So, the Jedi have the following colours;

Guardian Blue, Consular Green, Sentinel Yellow, Arctic Blue & Violet Amethyst

With the Sith having;

Blazing Red

Would you also consider these "Sithy"

Dark Violet Amethyst, Pyrestone Orange.

So where would you put;

Fire Orange, Adegan Silver, Sunrider Destiny, Emerald Green.

I don't think I've missed any! hehe

Exar Kun (Dark Lord of the Sith) carried a Guardian Blue double blade lightsaber.

In the video games, Sith have carried Pyrestone Orange and Dark Violet Amethyst.

Leia Organa Solo has carried a Red blade.

Fire Orange has me stumped.  Adegan Silver is the color of Corran Horn's Lightsaber in regular mode.  Sunrider's Destiny has been carried by a Jedi and Emerald Green is the color of Jacen Solo's Jedi Lightsaber.

 So all a bit mix n match then? Out of interest, did Mara Jade always carry purple & does Jacen Solo change his saber/crystal when he becomes Darth Cadeus?

I'm also curious why Obi-wan's blade changes from Guardian to Arctic blue.

As far as I'm concerned, red is the only Sith color.  Call me a stubborn purist, but that's how I see it.
I would be willing to make an exception for Pyrestone Orange and consider it Sith-favored (NOT Sith-exclusive) as well, but in my opinion, defined colors:

Jedi - blue, green, yellow
Sith - red

The rest I see as entirely personal preference.

When Mara Jade slays the clone of Luke Skywalker, Luke hands her his lightsaber that his clone was carrying.  It is his lightsaber that he lost along with his hand in Bespin.  Mara Jade later carries this lightsaber as her own so she later carries a blue blade lightsaber and did so until her death.

Jacen Solo creates a Red Sith saber after he becomes Darth Caedus.

The blue sabers look Guardian in low light and Arctic in bright light.  Anakin's does the same thing.

I tend to agree, which is a little limiting for the Sith, but marks them out too.

I am not 100% but I believe just like Luke obi wan had to make his crystal because the sith destroyed the rest but it could be because you go from 70s and 80s film making to the 2000s alot changed in starwars cinema and in sabers.

Ah, thanks.

So if Arctic looks darker/richer in the dark, presumably Guardian does too.

All colors look more that color at night in the dark

I'd sure like to know what Obi-wan got up to in the 20 years between ep.3 & 4. I guess his crystal shouldn't have changed if it sat in his trunk the whole time. Lol

Oh yeah, of course, different movie era for sure.

No problem remember Wookiepedia is our friend for all things starwars.

Now that Disney owns Star Wars we will probably get movies based on exactly that.

ILM is to blame! I think the GB vs AB happened simply because of rotoscoping technology. At least that gives us a canonical choice for the US Graflex; AB for Luke: ANH, and GB for Anakin: RotS.

Same holds true for Obi-Wan, I guess, but the Guardian is his Ep I saber... even the Remnant was GB in Ep III, and AB in Ep IV...

I wouldn't complain at that actually, cos it could Canonise some gaps.

Here's my opinion on saber colors (ultra)

Jedi- GB CG SY EG AB SRD TQ*
Sith- BR PO DVA BH
Gray area(preference)- AS VA FO HP

*Someone here has turquoise when they got their EG saber. It was a mis-mix but turned out as a new color.

Not really a complaint, but I grew up watching the original trilogy, and other than books which I never got into, that was all there was. It made it more special to me. I'm glad that we are getting all 9 movies like Lucas originally planned,  I just don't want a bunch of spin-off movies that are just to make money off of the Star Wars name.

No, nor do I, unless they are very GOOD spin off movies! :)
