I think I may be getting my first US with sound here soon. $234 in total for a Dominix v3, GB, with a vented coupling to fit my stunt Dom v3. I was thinking about getting a different saber, but...I just love the feel of my old Dom v3. I don't know what it is, but it just feels so natural to me. I also crave a staff, so I'll have them chop the blade down and then I'll just steal the 32" blade I got for my girlfriend's saber. She doesn't need it anyways, she can use the full 3'.

The only problem is I'm poor. And I'm going to be poorer because I'm moving away from home to go to school in Kansas in 43 days. But then, this is my new hobby. It used to be video games, but in the past month, I cant even bring myself to play Minecraft. Heck, about all I could manage was a yet unfinished playthrough of KOTOR on my iPad, and that was just because I could get up and move around and play. US lets me go outside and horse around and work up a sweat as I do drills; I can do it by myself AND with a partner, while video games is no fun alone anymore...but so much money for this addiction :'(

I'll probably end up thinking about it for a little while longer. Stalling the inevitable. See how my next paycheck looks. It's not like this purchase would cripple me for school or anything, it just would put a sizable, sort of agonizing dent in what I've declared to be "Misc. Money" for school.

I remember when this was me when I first learned about US. Up to that point I had been saving money for a car, but I decided I couldn't hold off any longer and bought myself a Dark Standard Issue V3 staff, which cost around $240. I loved it as soon as I got it and one paycheck later, I ordered the Phantasm Initiate V3 staff. My reasoning was it would be a good investment and would give me another hobby to indulge in my spare time. I'm still without a car, but at least I have something to do outside whenever I have the time and motivation to do so. I have three other sabers on my wish list, but now I realize they will just have to wait.

clericazrael, I think all of us know how tempting it is to give all our money to US. I'm working my way through my wishlist bit by bit, and chances are there'll be more added before I get to the end.

That said, I know how expensive being away at university can be. $234 (or $250...) here or there could make a big difference, depending on your finances. You'll probably find you'll make some friends with your 'sabres (cosplaying, duelling clubs, just among those in your accommodation) but that money could cover a bunch of textbooks too.

So... Just consider it carefully. I'm sure you are anyway, and you've shown you've reasoned through wanting it, but I feel obliged in this instance to be the voice of caution.

Ha my initial response to this was heck yeah I'll throw down 250 for a chance...then reality hit,can't swing it this time around... :( plus I got the are you kidding me face from my wife haha! Clericazreal  James Casey is right way those options carefully, not not the only one getting old James haha! On the flip side if I had that cash to throw down I would totally do it. Raffle or no raffle US's are always gonna be here and be awesome!

The nice thing is that I'm practically guaranteed a job on campus and I wont have a car to pay for. And my mind is saying "Dude, look, you're gonna get a saber with sound eventually. Just get the uber fancy Overlord you have planned now while the raffle is on and pray for the best, then get just another stunt Dom with coupler later." But my heart bleeds for every dollar.

TECHNICALLY, I have a goal for how much money I need to bring with me to school and I'm currently right at it. If I blow this week's paycheck, I'll essentially be one week under again...which...I dunno, I'll have tio talk it over with my girlfriend because she's going to the same school I'll be going to so she knows what kind of expenses I've gotta plan for...

Out of curiosity, where in Kansas are you attending school?  Granted I'm a bit beyond the college age (38) but I live just outside Kansas City, on the Missouri side of the state line, but am always interested in trying to find or put together some sort of cosplay/saber group for this area.  Allegedly there's a couple out here, but evidently their presence is rather low-key.

I'll be in McPherson. Way out of the way, about 5 hours. Only an hour from Wichita, though.
