Title: 3D printing costume parts
Post by: Ninja-Jedi on July 11, 2013, 02:14:17 PM
I dont know if anyone started a thread for this yet, and didnt have time to look but thought I would give some thoughts and ideas anyone else feel free to add. I was just coming from shapeways and seen amazing blade blug designs that can be bought some are little pricey 20$ but those have crystall chambered windows and mecha designs which are outstanding.  Now I have also seen 3d printed skulls go for 95$ with intricate designs.  So what I thought why not make a mask or even better make armor peices. There really is no limit to it and no limit to detail. Now the bigger the peice obviously the bigger the price. So i thought helmets and chest peices prob out of everyone price range.  But mask, gauntlets peices, arm peices, leg peices, even foot peices. I thought even for costume makers using shapeway  to make accent peices for robes and costume designs as well.  So if anyone knows someone that
can 3D model maybe some of us on forums can commision work for 3D design files to be used on shapeways.
Anyways if this thread has already been started then mods please lock

there was a thread here somewhere from someone regarding 3D printing a few months back, I think they said a friend or relative had just gotten a 3D printer? I could be remembering it incorrectly

This could be a fun economical way to get some awesome custom armor pieces. I myself am looking a "battlemage" type look for my character ( hood no sleeves, arm pauldron, light chest piece) goi for a stranded sith hunter type look. Don't know if that exists in canon but its what I'm going for.
